“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
A video recaps what happened in the RAW main event. Cody Rhodes and Goldust defeated The Shield to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions. They received a major assist from the Big Show, who ran in through the crowd to knock out all the members of The Shield. Triple H ran out after the match was over, and he was not happy at all. Big Show was in the crowd leading a “YES!” chant.
The Smackdown video plays, and we’re brought into the arena. Lilian Garcia introduces RAW General Manager Brad Maddox and Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Both are in the ring already. Vickie excuses herself before saying The Authority has squarely placed the responsibility on her to run a tight ship here on Smackdown. She assures everyone that the debacle that occurred on Monday Night RAW will not be repeated here tonight. She will have order and discipline. Here to assist her is the General Manager of RAW, Brad Maddox. Maddox thanks her. He says his job is very simple, and that is to ensure that a certain seven-foot, five hundred-pound freak does not enter the arena and cause the sort of chaos that he did on Monday night. To ensure that, he has done everything in his power, aside from calling the National Guard, like having security stationed all throughout the arena. This will ensure the Big Show does not bother anyone in the crowd. Vickie says they would both like to express their sincere gratitude to Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in having the faith in them to carry out the banner of what’s best for business. Maddox also thanks the crowd for coming out, and he hopes they have a good time.
Daniel Bryan’s music hits, and he comes out to a tremendous reception from the Kansas City crowd. Bryan gets in the ring, and he is all smiles. Bryan listens to the “YES!” chant before saying that he is thrilled that Vickie and Maddox are here to carry on the banner of what’s best for business. He’s here to offer some assistance because what’s best for business is in nine days when he beats Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship inside the Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. Bryan says because he’s here to help, he wants to give them a warning. There is a rumor that Bigfoot, sasquatch-like character is here, and somehow he has gotten through the perimeter of their security. Bryan then introduces the Big Show!
Big Show’s music hits, and Maddox looks really nervous. Big Show doesn’t come out, and Bryan says he was just messing with them. Big Show isn’t here, yet. However, the new WWE Tag Team Champions are here: Goldust and Cody Rhodes! Goldust comes out first followed by his brother, Cody Rhodes. They enter the ring and shake hands with Bryan. Goldust then chomps at Vickie. Vickie says this is enough. She demands order and discipline. Justice will be served! These three renegades will face The Shield in tonight’s main event. Vickie cackles as Goldust looks at her perplexed.
CM Punk will take on Big E Langston later tonight. Coming up next, The Miz and Kofi Kingston will face Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of the Wyatt Family.

Wyatt advises Miz to enjoy his world while he can because they are going to take it all away. Follow the buzzards!

Match Rating: **
Paul Heyman appears on the ramp with Ryback and Curtis Axel. Heyman says he would like to be the first to congratulate CM Punk on a hard fought victory over an admittedly decent, marginally talented rookie barely out of the NXT developmental territory, Big E Langston. However, at Hell in a Cell, Punk will be facing a professional who can snap his neck like a twig. He’s an animal, Heyman’s caged animal: his Ryback. Punk wants no part of his Ryback or him, Paul Heyman, the man who beat him with both hands tied behind his back. That makes him the Best in the World.
Punk grabs a microphone, and he says that doesn’t make Heyman the Best in the World. It makes him a complete and total idiot. Heyman is forgetting two very important things, and that’s the two words they have to focus on. The first one is “Cell,” meaning the three of them are going to be locked inside. Heyman cannot run or hide. He will get what’s coming to him. As far as Heyman’s caveman goes, he likes to be called a caged animal, and like an animal, he’s going to put him to sleep. The second word is “hell,” and that is exactly what he’s going to put the two of them through. Heyman says in the immortal words of AC/DC, “Hell ain’t no bad place to be.” If Punk stays there right now, they’ll come down and explain it to him personally.
Heyman makes his way to the ring with Ryback and Axel at his side. Punk tries to fight Ryback and Axel off, but they soon take him down. They throw Punk into the ring, and he gets to his feet to challenge them. Big E Langston then gets into the ring to even the odds. Langston clotheslines Axel down before Punk kicks Ryback. Langston hits Axel with a belly-to-belly suplex as Punk catches Ryback with a high running knee in the corner. Langston runs Axel over with one more vicious clothesline before Punk roundhouses Ryback out of the ring. Heyman quickly backs off as Langston yells, “Who’s the rookie now?”

-Commercial Break-

Mathews says in just over a week at Hell in a Cell, he’ll defend his title against John Cena. They then show a video of John Cena’s return from injury. Mathews asks for a reaction. Del Rio says he was proudly carrying that Mexican flag because he is Mexico’s greatest export and champion. He is God’s gift to humanity. Del Rio says the fans are just gringos. They have no flavor, soul, or Mexican passion. This is the best word. Do they know who is the biggest representative of the gringos? It’s John Cena. He wonders who John Cena thinks he is coming back from surgery to face him for the title. Del Rio says Cena has to start from the bottom. Is he going crazy? He’s been out of action for the last two months just because he sprained his elbow. Del Rio says Cena is going soft. He’s not the man he used to be except for his ego, which grows day by day. After he loses against him at Hell in a Cell, he’ll be just like all the gringos: a nobody.
Del Rio says he has one more thing to say. Does Cena want to know what is going to happen to his injured arm at Hell in a Cell? Watch this! Del Rio then grabs Josh Mathews and applies the Cross Arm Breaker to him! Del Rio holds it on before releasing it and standing over him smiling. Del Rio then waves the Mexican flag around a bit.

-Commercial Break-
They show a replay from Monday Night RAW when Shawn Michaels came out to say that he will be an impartial official at Hell in a Cell.
Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring for the main event. Randy Orton’s music hits next, and Bryan’s opponent at Hell in a Cell comes out to the stage. Orton asks who Bryan thinks he is. Does Bryan really think he can beat him? Orton thinks he’s way over his head with that pretty little fiancé of his. Talk about delusions of grandeur! He’s even over his head with his stupid little catchphrases. The fact that Bryan even thinks he has the slightest chance of beating him at Hell in a Cell means he’s way over his head. Now Shawn Michaels, who he’s had a problem with his entire career, as well as being Bryan’s mentor, is the special guest referee. Even with the odds in Bryan’s favor, he guarantees the world that he will not only once again become the WWE Champion, he will also unquestionably be the face of the WWE once more. Orton’s music hits as we go to commercial.
