“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
The Smackdown video plays, and we’re brought into the arena. Josh Mathews and JBL welcome us to the show. The main event of the evening will be Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Big E Langston, and The Usos taking on The Shield and The New Age Outlaws in a 10-man tag team match.
The Real Americans are in the ring with Zeb Colter seated in a chair. Colter is still recovering from the Knockout Punch he received from Big Show last Monday on RAW. Colter says one of their opponents tonight are the Big Show, a big, overbearing, obtuse bully who attacked a war veteran just because he could. They then show a replay of Big Show knocking him out. Colter says that is disgraceful. His partner tonight is not much better. A man who comes to the ring wearing a mask named Rey Mysterio. Colter wonders what “Señor Mysterio” is running from, if that’s even his real name. Speaking of names, at least they have a real name. They’re the Real Americans. Colter is going to give Big Show and Mysterio a team name. How about the “Border Hopping Bullies?” How about “El Gordito and the Jumping Bean?” Maybe “Tacos Supremos – Hold the Salsa?” No matter what you call them, they’re a big part of the problem as are anyone who agrees with them. Colter then asks all of the Real Americans to say, “We the people!”
The Real Americans w/ Zeb Colter vs. Rey Mysterio and Big Show
Before the match begins, they show replays of Big Show throwing Brock Lesnar across the ring a few weeks back on RAW. Then it shows the big confrontation Big Show had with Lesnar on this past Monday’s RAW. They’ll face each other at the Royal Rumble.

Paul Heyman comes out to the stage, and he tells Big Show to enjoy the celebration. Heyman says he doesn’t think he needs to apprise the people of the fact that he is Paul Heyman. Heyman tells Big Show to cherish every single moment of this celebration because there will be nothing for him to celebrate this Sunday at the Royal Rumble PPV. To Big Show’s giant credit, he stopped a takedown attempt by Brock Lesnar. Big Show heaved Lesnar over the top rope. That’s why beating Big Show this Sunday will not be enough. Heyman assures him that as unpleasant as this may be, Big Show will suffer and be subjugated by his client. Then Brock Lesnar will go on to conquer the rest of the WWE Universe. -Commercial Break-
CM Punk addresses the Director of Operations Kane
CM Punk makes his way to the ring to a tremendous reception. They show a replay from last week’s Smackdown where Punk called Kane out as a “suck up.” Kane then came in the ring and Chokeslammed him. A replay is then shown of Kane being forced to apologize to CM Punk on Monday Night RAW. Punk then attacked Kane and gave him a high knee to knock him out of the ring. Back to live action, Punk looks satisfied with himself while watching the footage. The crowd chants his name. Punk says last Monday on RAW, The Authority’s lapdog (or Kane) announced that he would be the number one entrant in the Royal Rumble match. That is, of course, The Authority’s way of stacking the deck against him with their hidden agendas. Punk isn’t surprised. He assumes this was done to ensure that he doesn’t win. What it has done is make him wonder exactly how much Triple H and Stephanie McMahon pay attention to their surroundings, especially after having dealt with him for almost a decade. What else could you expect from Vince McMahon’s wicked, spoiled brat daughter and his doofus son-in-law? Being number one in the Royal Rumble motivates him. He’s focused on his ultimate goal of being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and headlining WrestleMania.
Punk says he’s done many special things in WWE. Some people say he’s done it all, but if there is one glaring omission on his resume, and that is winning the Royal Rumble match. The Authority made him number one. This match wouldn’t be easy if he was number thirty, but when you call yourself the Best in the World, you don’t complain. You back it up, and that’s what he intends to do. This Sunday, he walks straight into the lion’s den, and he’ll punch him in his stupid face and throw him over the top rope. He’ll do that along with twenty-nine other superstars, and he will be the last man standing.
Kane’s music hits, and he comes out to the stage smirking. Kane says on behalf of The Authority, he wants to wish him the best of luck in the Royal Rumble match. They say that number one is a nearly impossible position to win the match, but he’s done some calculations. Punk actually does have a .000000186% chance of winning – about 1 in 500 million. However, being Best in the World will tip the scales a little more in his favor. Punk tells him to never tell him the odds. Secondly, Punk is sad that this is what’s become of the Big Red Machine. He used to be the Devil’s Favorite Demon, but now he’s at the top of the ramp in a nice suit as The Authority’s Favorite Statistician. Punk supposes when Kane handed in his mask, he included his manhood. Punk knows being number one isn’t easy, but that number has won before. The Best in the World will do it again because he’s been the best since day one.
Tonight’s main event will be a big 10-man tag team match.
