WWE Smackdown kicks off with Michael Cole in the ring. He introduces the WWE champion Kofi Kingston. Out comes Kofi alone throwing pancakes into the crowd.
Michael Cole says he is excited to be with him and celebrate his 11 year career. Cole mentions how Kofi finally got a chance at Wrestlemania and he goes on to talk about the odds against him at the Elimination Chamber and the gauntlet match from last month. Cole asks Kofi if he ever believed he would get his match at Wrestlemania.
Kofi states that he learned after 11 years that you will have highs and lows but you have to keep pushing and fighting. And he’s glad he did because he’s standing as the WWE champion. And he’s proud he did it with Big E and Xavier because without the New Day, this doesn’t happen. They are the guys that proved that the impossible is possible. Cole says he called his Wrestlemania moment magical and it may have been the greatest Wrestlemania moment ever.
We see clips of Kofi winning the WWE title against Daniel Bryan. A loud “You deserve it” chant from the crowd. Kofi says it’s amazing and the emotions are still there. He can’t believe he got to share that moment with his family in the ring. Cole says now that he is champion, he has a target on his back and the first person to take aim was Kevin Owens. We see the clip from last week’s Smackdown where Kevin Owens attacked Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
Kofi says that a lot of people say that a lot of people told him he should have seen it coming. But the New Day believe it allowing people to change and they believed that Kevin really wanted to change. But at the end of the day, Kevin Owens is Kevin Owens. If Owens wanted to challenge him, all he had to do was ask because he would have given him an opportunity. Kofi says let Owens come for the WWE title and they do it at Money in the Bank. Kevin’s music hits and out he comes.
Kevin Owens stands on the stage and says challenge accepted, Kofi. And he gave everyone a Wrestlemania moment and there’s nothing more that the WWE Universe loves than a Wrestlemania moment. He says it doesn’t get any better than that but the thing about moments is that they end. Owens says the WWE Universe thinks that he is not WWE championship material. And he hears Kofi talk and not to believe he is championship material. Xavier Woods attacks Kevin Owens from behind but Owens fights back and kicks Xavier in the face. Kofi runs onto the stage as Kevin Owens leaves to the back.
When will they stop introducing Kofi Kingston as the new WWE champion? Getting a bit old. With that said, we have our WWE title match for Money in the Bank. #SDLive

Roman Reigns appears on Smackdown
Roman Reigns walks down to the ring. He says you only get one shot at making a first impression and he figured on his first night on Smackdown Live, he would do just that. And he knocked out Vince McMahon. He said it could have been anyone, he just wanted to get the point across that he is still the big dog. And Smackdown Live is his yard now.
Shane McMahon’s music hits. He asks Craig Hamilton to introduce him, very short and low key. Hamilton introduces Shane as the best in the world. Shane says Roman is the big dog in the yard and that may be but the McMahon family owns all the land. Roman says the McMahon family own the land? No, your daddy owns the land. Roman says and when he was in that ring with him, Roman was on his feet while Vince was on his back. Shane says we are all aware that he struck a national treasure. But it was Roman who was laying face down in the ring last week. Roman says with the help of Elias but can Shane do it on his own.
McMahon says he would like nothing more than to come down and slap him around but he has no time because he has to go see a coach in Michigan and he will be working with a true championship caliber organization for his steel cage match against The Miz at Money in the Bank. But if Roman is looking for a fight, there are a lot of guys in the back lining up to welcome him to Smackdown Live and he will introduce two of them.
The B team’s music hits as Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Shane says he will be taking on both members of the B team in a handicap match. Roman says how original. What’s next? Is he going to blind fold him, tie one hand behind his back? Shane says not to be silly but he is intuitive. But a match of this caliber deserves something extra and that is a special guest referee enforcer. Shane introduces Elias. He comes out and tells everyone hello, he is Elias.
I'm liking this feud involving Shane, Roman and Elias. You just know it will likely end in a Roman against Shane match at Summerslam or something but I hope not. Elias needs this push and even though Roman will likely come out as winner, I am enjoying the feud. #SDLive

While I'd like to see Andrade win the Money in the Bank, I think it will be McIntyre. But I would have Andrade as the Intercontinental champion. Have him run with that title for months. The guy is a star. #SDLive

KO Show – Kevin Owens with Xavier Woods
Kevin Owens welcomes everyone to the show. He says he doesn’t need balloons or pictures, this is Kevin Owens. He is the show. And these two chairs are all he needs. He was trying to make a point earlier and that is that Kofi Kingston is in way over his head. Kofi Kingston is drowning but help is on the way and he is that help. Because at Money in the Bamk, he will relieve him of the burden he has been carrying around since Wrestlemania because he is positive that at Money in the Bank, he will take the WWE title away from him. But enough about Kofi Kingston, earlier tonight he had a great idea for a guest. And that is to have Xavier Woods on his show. Because we know all about Kofi but he wants to hear about Xavier Woods. He doesn’t know if Woods is able to come out and talk but if he is, if he can come out and the two can talk.
Owens introduces Woods but no one comes out. Owens says he has a plan B as he holds an Xavier Woods action figure. One of the many pieces of crap merchandise they have been shamelessly selling for years. He places the figure on the chair and asks what’s wrong. Is it because he is lonely? Usually he has friends well good news. He was part of a battle pack as Owens takes out a Big E action figure. He places Big E next to Xavier Woods on the chair. Owens says the real Woods and Big E aren’t here as he kicks the chair away. He thinks he knows what Big E and Woods think. Kofi Kingston stands on stage.

Kofi Kingston actually looked like he was able to take on Kevin Owens. While there's been a lot of talk about Kofi being champion, it's the first time I see him fighting as one. #SDLive

Not a bad Smackdown, it felt a little long but I think we have all of our matches for Money in the Bank. Glad the focus is on the WWE title and not Roman Reigns. Nice balance there. #SDLive
