Smackdown Live kicks off with former WWE Smackdown women’s champion Becky Lynch pulling into the arena. She’s asked if she believes if she is ready for Asuka at the Royal Rumble. Becky says she’ll know the answer in the ring.
As she’s walking, the camera cuts to The New Day who are backstage with Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight. Dozovic and Knight are putting a bunch of ingredients in a blender. Dozovic takes a drink from it and offer Becky a drink. Becky drinks it and says it’s a little weak.
Becky Lynch, WWE women’s champion Asuka and IIconics
She walks down to the ring as the fans chant “Becky”. She says that in two weeks at the Rumble, she gets a chance to take back her Smackdown women’s title. It’s the same title that she had the whole world talking about. But where is it now? And now the whole roster thinks that what she’s doing is a fluke. That connecting with the people, creating a buzz, main eventing and being the man is easy. They think it’s easy until they try it but women on Raw and Smackdown are trying to be bad asses ever since she broke though. But Asuka is finding out how hard leading the division really is.
Lynch says there are those who call her hype yet she delivers on everything she says, every time. But if you really want to talk about hype, Asuka walked into last year’s Wrestlemania as indestructible. Unbeatable. If you are to believe her hype yet she lost. Not only did she lose but it shook her to her core and she fell off the radar. But Asuka talks about hype. Asuka couldn’t beat Charlotte but Becky could. Yet Asuka asks if she’s ready for her?
Asuka’s music hits and she walks down the ring. A loud “Becky” chant from the crowd. Asuka says Becky likes to talk about buzz like a bee. But there’s no sting. After the Royal Rumble, Becky will not be in Charlotte’s shadow. She will be in her shadow.
The IIconics’ music hits. Billie Kay says no Asuka. That is not how a proper champion should behave. Making scary faces and threats. Where’s the dignity, the class? Peyton says if she thinks Asuka is bad, Becky is worse. They call her bossy Becky, typical behavior from a man. But all of this is temporary because they will win the women’s Royal Rumble match and they will become the first ever WWE women’s tag team champions. And then they will make Wrestlemania iconic.
Becky asks Asuka if she wants to know what the buzz is about, she will show her why she is the talk of the industry. She turns to the IIconics and asks which one of them wants to fight.
I said it a while back and I'll say it again. Becky Lynch can do no wrong. WWE are striking while the iron is hot and they're striking gold. Asuka's short promo shows why it'll be difficult to make her the face of the women's division. #SDLive

A fun start to #SDLive. I liked that they had Asuka get the win right after. I also mentioned when Asuka won the title that they should try and still focus on her, seeing as how she's the champion. Charlotte and Becky are hot at the moment but as champion, the focus is Asuka.

Andrade "Cien" Almas' music reminds me of a level in Sonic 2 on Sega Genesis. Every time I hear it, the level comes to mind. Oh and yeah, Almas has to hold the United States title by the end of the year. But seriously, that Sonic level was tough. #SDLive

A very enjoyable #SDLive this week. The writing has gotten better recently, the matches as well and it helps when it's a 2 hour show. Storylines advancing for the Royal Rumble too.
