Highlights are shown of Night One of the NXT Great American Bash special.
Tonight, we’ll see NXT Champion Adam Cole and NXT North American Champion Keith Lee battle in a Winner Take All match.
Street Fight
Candice LeRae vs. Mia Yim
As Candice LeRae makes her entrance, Mia Yim attacks her from behind! Yim sends LeRae into the steel steps before putting her in the ring. Yim throws a garbage can and lid into the ring, along with kendo sticks and chairs.
The bell rings when Yim gets in the ring. LeRae ducks a kendo stick shot and hits Yim in the side with it a few times. Yim blocks another shot and pulls it away from LeRae. Yim picks up a stick and beats LeRae down with it before digging the point into her. Yim then crushes her with another kendo stick shot. LeRae holds her arm in pain. Yim goes under the ring and pulls a table out. Yim puts the table in the ring and gets on the apron, but LeRae dropkicks her to the floor. LeRae leans the table in the corner and attacks Yim coming in the ring. Yim fights back and goes for a dragon suplex into the table in the corner, but LeRae gets out. LeRae kicks her back and charges, but Yim goes for a German Suplex. LeRae gets out, so Yim knocks her out of the ring. Yim digs her boot into LeRae’s face. LeRae quickly reverses a whip and sends Yim into the ring post. LeRae punches away at her and pulls her shoulder-first into the ring post a few times. Yim soon counters and pulls LeRae into the ring post.
Yim boots LeRae into the crowd and throws her into one of the members. LeRae soon throws some food at Yim, but Yim bounces her off the table. Yim hits her with a tray, so LeRae fights back. They throw trays and bowls at each other before LeRae sets up the table. LeRae puts Yim on a production platform. Yim attacks her as she comes up, but LeRae quickly sprays her with a fire extinguisher. LeRae goes for a superplex off the platform through the table, but Yim blocks it. Yim then dropkicks her off the platform through the table!

-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Yim set LeRae up on a chair in the ring, but LeRae soon catches her with a drop-toe-hold on the seat. LeRae kicks her off the chair and covers for a near fall. LeRae digs the chair into Yim’s midsection before focusing it on the injured ribs. LeRae goes under the ring and grabs more chairs. LeRae puts them in the ring and attacks Yim with the trash can lid. LeRae lays the table on the top rope in the corner. Yim quickly comes back with a vertical suplex. LeRae comes back with a step-up enzugiri, stunning Yim. Yim then floors LeRae with a side kick.
Both women are down. They get up, and Yim punches away at LeRae before splashing her in the corner. Yim puts the garbage can over LeRae’s head and hits a running big boot. LeRae is sitting in the corner, so Yim hits a cannonball into the garbage can. Yim covers LeRae for a near fall.

Yim puts on a pair of brass knuckles, but LeRae blocks a punch with the steel chair. LeRae hits her with the chair a few times before putting her on a pile of chairs. LeRae buries her in the chairs and heads to the top turnbuckle that has the table on it. Yim attacks LeRae and lays her on the table. Yim sets the chairs back up in an island in the middle of the ring. Yim gets on the table with LeRae. LeRae attacks her coming up and rips the brass knuckles off Yim’s hand. Yim quickly attacks and stands on the table bridge. LeRae then crushes her with a swinging neckbreaker off the table onto the chair island for the win!

Bronson Reed battles Tony Nese next.
-Commercial Break-
Before the show went on the air, Tony Nese beat Leon Ruff and humiliated him. Bronson Reed took exception. Last month, Reed took care of Ruff after beating him.
Bronson Reed vs. Tony Nese
The bell rings, and they circle the ring. Nese shows off his midsection and mocks Reed’s midsection. They lock up, and Reed powers him down. Reed then pats his midsection. They lock up again, and Reed wrenches the arm. Nese powers him down, but Nese soon fights up and backs him to the corner. Reed gives a clean break, so Nese shoulders him in the midsection. Reed reverses a whip to the corner, but Nese elbows him back. Nese flips over him and does some jumping jacks. Nese ducks a clothesline and drops down before going for a leapfrog, but Reed shoves him down out of midair. Reed hits a military press slam followed by a senton splash. Nese gets out of the ring to recover. Reed head-butts him back and clubs the back. Reed puts him in the ring, but Nese puts the apron over his head and baseball slides him. Nese punches away at Reed as he gets in the ring. Nese kicks away at the knee, but Reed head-butts him back. Nese catches him with a slow inside cradle for a two count. Nese quickly dropkicks him. Reed fights back, but Nese kicks him and drives him into the ropes, but Reed stops it. Reed hits a few running forearms followed by an inside cradle and a bionic elbow. Reed avalanches him in the corner before sending him across the ring. Nese big boots him and comes off the second rope, but Reed catches him. Reed puts him down, but Nese hits throat thrust. Nese snaps him off the top rope and hits a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Reed quickly comes back with a clothesline that turns Nese inside out. Reed goes to the top rope and hits a diving splash for the win.

Video Package: Mercedes Martinez returns tonight
Robert Stone is backstage with Aliyah and McKenzie Mitchell. Stone and Aliyah go up to Shotzi Blackheart. Stone offers her a position in his brand. Blackheart turns him down, infuriating Stone. All of a sudden, Killian Dain comes up and grabs Stone before throwing him into a crate. Blackheart then runs over Stone’s leg with her mini tank! Stone screams in agony and wonders if he’s still alive.

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Johnny Gargano
They lock up, and Gargano quickly takes him down. Gargano hooks the arm and elbows him before letting him up. Gargano cockily taunts him and backs up. Gargano hits a drop-toe-hold and applies a front facelock. Scott tries to twist him off, but Gargano hangs on. Gargano grapevines the arm and pulls on it. Scott twists out, but Gargano quickly catches him with a wristlock. Scott fights out, but Gargano evades him and hits a hurricanrana… but Scott lands on his feet. Scott gets Gargano out of the ring. Gargano avoids a kick, and they each dodge planchas. Gargano goes for a clothesline on the floor, but Scott drops down and kips up. They get in the ring, and Gargano goes for One Final Beat, but Scott gets out. Scott gets Gargano out of the ring and hits a Fosbury Flop!

-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Gargano take Scott down and kick him in the head. Gargano picks up a one count. Scott flips through a suplex and connects with a straight right hand. Scott hits a running uppercut followed but a diving uppercut off the second turnbuckle. Gargano gets out of the ring to recover. Scott kicks him down from the apron and puts him back in the ring. Scott avoids a punch and punches Gargano back to the corner. Scott takes him down and hits a rolling thunder flatliner for a near fall. Gargano drops Scott on the apron, avoids a dive, and hits a slingshot spear for a two count.

Gargano fights Scott away, but Scott eventually takes him down and hits a brainbuster. Gargano avoids the House Call, so Scott applies a waistlock. Gargano elbows out and goes for a clothesline, but Scott avoids it. Scott kicks him back, and Gargano stuns him with an enzuigiri. Scott the floors Gargano with a House Call. They’re both down, and Gargano rolls away to avoid being pinned. Scott grabs Gargano, but Gargano gets out and applies an STF. Scott twists out and pins him for a two count. Gargano goes for a head-scissor takedown, but Scott fights it. Scott twists him upside down, but Gargano holds the top rope. Scott counters him with a JML Driver for a near fall!
Scott goes to the top rope, but Gargano rolls to the apron. Gargano grabs the ankle and punches Scott a few times. Scott viciously kicks Gargano to the floor and stands on the second rope. Scott goes for a diving double stomp, and Gargano shoves him into the ring post. Gargano follows up with a poisonrana on the floor!
Gargano gets him in the ring and shouts that this is his house. Gargano connects with the One Final Beat DDT for the win!

Really good match with Johnny Gargano and "Swerve" Scott. Scott really brought it in this one and Gargano continues to show that he's still one of the best #WWE has to offer on their roster. Great back and forth action and potentially star making match for Scott. #WWENXT #NXTGAB

Drake Maverick demands to start the match, but Fandango insists because Maverick is too emotional. Fandango will start against Joaquin Wilde. Fandango applies a side headlock. Wilde whips him off, but Fandango shoulder blocks him down. Wilde comes back with a hip toss, but Fandango quickly responds with an arm drag. Fandango wrenches the arm and hits a suplex for a one count. Fandango hits a front suplex on the top rope and tags in Tyler Breeze. Breezango hits Wilde with stereo big boots for a two count. Wilde tackles Breeze to the corner and tags in Raul Mendoza. Mendoza chops the chest and goes for a kick, but Breeze holds the ropes. Breeze hits a swinging neckbreaker for a one count. Drake Maverick tags in, and he punches Mendoza in the midsection. Maverick points at Santos Escobar before punching Mendoza down. Mendoza reverses a whip, but he lowers his head and eats a kick. Maverick hits a step-up enzuigiri and shouts at Escobar again. Breeze tags back in. Breeze sends him to the corner, but Mendoza redirects to the apron. Mendoza hits a double axe handle. Escobar tags in, but he quickly tags Wilde in. They take Breeze down before flipping Wilde onto Breeze for a two count.
Wilde hits a back elbow on Breeze and stomps the face for a two count. Breeze hits a jawbreaker and tags Fandango in. Fandango hits a diving knee and punches Mendoza out of midair. Fandango connects with the falcon arrow on Wilde before scaring Escobar out of the ring. Fandango presses Maverick above his head and throws him onto Legado del Fantasma! Fandango then goes to the apron and hits a springboard twisting summersault plancha. Fandango’s ankle comes up lame.

Fandango gets Wilde in the ring, but Mendoza quickly sends him into the ring steps. Maverick is worried about his partner. Wilde gegts Fandango in the ring for a one count. Wilde kicks Fandango before applying a front facelock. Wilde elbows him in the head before chopping the chest a few times. Wilde hits a snapmare and knees him in the spine. Wilde attacks the leg and kicks him in the spine. Escobar tags in, stares at Maverick, and punches Fandango. Fandango punches Escobar back, but Escobar hits a chop block to the knee. Escobar then applies a grounded abdominal stretch. Escobar grabs the injured leg and stretches that as well. Escobar clubs the neck and lets him up. Escobar tags Mendoza in, who stomps Fandango’s injured knee. Mendoza drives the knee into the mat before clubbing him. Fandango desperately tries to make a tag, but Mendoza holds him back. Mendoza hits a leg drop on the injured leg and punches him down. Mendoza puts the leg on the ropes and jumps on it twice. Mendoza tries a third time, but Fandango kicks him over the top rope. Mendoza quickly grabs Fandango, but he kicks him into the barricade. Wilde approaches the opposing corner, so Breeze scares him back.
Maverick and Escobar tag in. Maverick punches away at him and hits some clotheslines followed by a Lou Thesz Press. Maverick punches away at him before hitting a wheelbarrow bulldog. Mendoza and Wilde run in, but Breezango cuts them off. They brawl to the floor. Maverick goes to the top rope, but Escobar superkicks the legs. Escobar hits a Phantom Driver for the win.

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are backstage with the interviewer. LeRae keeps making her say she beat Mia Yim. Gargano says they are the Great American Power Couple. They’re the best power couple in the world… no, the universe. What could have been if Finn Bálor didn’t get in his way? Gargano says he’d be a double champion. LeRae says they have a few wrongs they have to right.

Santana Garrett vs. Mercedes Martinez
Martinez kicks and clubs Garrett down. Martinez viciously clubs her down in the corner before lifting her up. Martinez punches and chops Garrett. Garrett leaps over her and goes for a roll-up, but Martinez stops it. Garrett fights her and goes for an abdominal stretch, but Martinez powers out. Martinez throws her to the corner, but Garrett avoids an avalanche and hits a handspring back elbow. Martinez immediately explodes out of the corner and hits a big boot. Martinez grounds and pounds her before pulling the hair. Martinez goes for a double arm suplex, but Garrett fights out. Garrett avoids a clothesline, but Martinez throws her off. Garrett forearms her and hits a superkick. Martinez bounces off the ropes with a vicious clothesline. Martinez hits a fisherman buster for the win.

NXT North American Champion Keith Lee vs. NXT Champion Adam Cole
The bell rings, and the crowd is chanting for Keith Lee. Cole circles around Lee and drops down before applying a side headlock. Cole cinches it in. Lee tries to lift him, but Cole tightens it up. Lee finally does lift him up, but Cole cranks up the pressure and returns to his feet. Lee breaks the grip and powers out. Lee locks hands with him and wrenches the arm. Cole screams in pain and goes to the apron to break the hold. Lee drags him into the ring and lifts him up by the arm. Lee drops him, and Cole falls to his knees in pain. Lee cinches in the greco roman knuckle lock and blocks a kick. Lee shoulder blocks him down, and Cole gets out of the ring to recover. Lee goes outside and charges, but Cole moves. Lee’s momentum sends him hard into the plexiglass, knocking it down.

Cole breaks the count-out and bounces him off the steps. Cole hits a bicycle kick and knocks him back. Cole gets in the ring to break the count again. Cole bounces Lee off the ring steps a few times. Lee gets in the ring, and Cole hits a swinging neckbreaker. Cole talks a little trash and forearms him in the face. Cole staggers him with some strikes and takes him down to a knee with the bicycle kick. Cole hits another neckbreaker for a one count. Cole knees in and grapevines the head. Cole cinches in the hold, but Lee starts powering out. Cole cuts him off and keeps it applied. Cole shouts that Lee is nothing. Lee grabs him by the neck, but Cole fights out and hits a bicycle kick. Cole hits a hangman’s neckbreaker for a two count. Cole shouts that Lee will never win the big one. Cole sets up for a Last Shot, but Lee fights back and hits a running forearm. Cole quickly avoids a shot and hits a bicycle kick. Lee immediately responds with a huge powerslam for a near fall.
Lee viciously chops the chest and looks at the ropes. Lee says, “I must break him.” Cole kicks the legs out from under him and crotches him on the second turnbuckle. Cole connects with a backstabber for a near fall. Lee powers Cole off him. Cole lands on the apron and heads to the top rope. Cole avoids a right hand and stuns him with a punch. Cole starts to climb, but Lee head-butts him to the apron. Lee goes to the second rope and pulls Cole up. Lee deadlifts him up for a superplex, but can’t get him over. Lee gets another burst of strength (Lee never let him touch the apron) and hits a HUGE deadlift superplex for a near fall!

Cole stuns Lee with an enzuigiri and kicks him. Cole hits the ropes, but Lee counters him with a sit-out Spirit Bomb! Lee covers, but Cole gets one finger on the bottom rope to break the pin. Cole quickly rolls out of the ring to recover. Lee looks frustrated. Cole quickly knocks Lee back and gets in the ring. Lee avoids a bicycle kick and hits a big Pounce followed by a one-armed slam for another near fall. Lee slowly climbs to the second rope and connects with a moonsault for yet another near fall! Lee has tears in his eyes. Cole looks stunned. Lee gets to his feet and lifts Cole up. Lee puts him on his shoulders for a Big Bang Catastrophe, but Cole lands on his feet and superkicks him. Cole superkicks him again, kicks him down to his knee, and hits the Last Shot… but Lee kicks out! The crowd is really buzzing right now. Cole hits the ropes, but Lee turns him inside out with a vicious clothesline! Cole doesn’t rotate fully and lands on his neck and shoulder!

Lee and Cole pull themselves up to their feet. Cole kicks Lee in the midsection and hits the Panama Sunrise! Cole covers, but Lee kicks out at two and three-quarters! Cole is in a state of shock. Cole slowly gets to his feet and hits a trio of superkicks for another near fall. Cole pulls his knee pad down and hits a Last Shot, the second of the match. Cole goes to the second rope, and the crowd is slamming their hands on the plexiglass. Cole waits for Lee to get to his feet and shouts at him. Cole goes for a Panama Sunrise, but Lee counters into a Spirit Bomb! Lee screams in triumph and hits the Big Bang Catastrophe for the win! Keith Lee is the first double champion in NXT history!

Overall this was a super successful two weeks for #WWENXT with the #NXTGAB. With #AEW doing a Fight for the Fallen theme, they look to be keeping the big matches going with Shirai vs. Nox and Priest vs. Grimes. Looking forward to it. The Wednesday Night War is good for all fans.
