John Cena made an appearance during the top half of the 3rd inning of the Cubs-Indians game on WGN. John talked about the appearance in the television booth being his last stop before watching the game. He said what a honor it was to be in Wrigley Field, that it was his first time at the park. Thanked WGN and the Cubs for the opportunity.
They talked about Cubs Left-fielder Alfonso Soriano using the “You Can’t See Me” hand wave. Cena was very surprised when he found out and saw him doing that. He mentioned the story about how the maneuver came about, as it being a joke between his brother. Promoted WWE Superstars with highlight from the program, and showing its airtimes.
Showed highlights of John on the field during batting practice playing around with the grounds crew and Cubs players. Also, showed him interacting with the bat kids picked for today’s game. When they show the bat kids, they always wave while on camera. Cena came over and did the “You Can’t See Me” gesture, and also talked to the kids. Looked to be something like, always listen to your parents, stay in school…like what Rey does on the way to the ring. To end the interview, they showed footage of John throwing the first pitch. The pitch ended up a little high with some cut speed near the end. It was a nice pitch, though, and John looked to really enjoy himself.
After the interview, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the announcers (Len Kasper & Bob Brenly) talked about what a nice guy John was. This ended up being really good promotion for WWE, and I have even more respect for the man of John Cena after seeing that. This could definitely be a good outlet for promotion of WWE in the future.
