WWE has confirmed a Sports Illustrated report on Monday morning that boxing and MMA commentator Mauro Ranallo will become the new voice of Smackdown when the show moves to the USA Network in a few weeks beginning on January 7, 2016.
The article notes Ranallo, who carries 30 years of broadcasting experience, is only the sports broadcaster to call every major combat sport on national television including boxing, kickboxing, MMA and New Japan Pro Wrestling for AXS TV.
Ranallo had the following to say regarding his WWE signing.
“Joining WWE has always been a lifelong dream of mine. I am thrilled to add my voice to the Smackdown broadcasts as the show moves to its new home on USA Network.”
