A video package narrated by a Chicago mobster runs focusing on Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio, John Cena vs. Ryback and the return of CM Punk against Chris Jericho tonight with a “payback” theme. The package ends with a shot of CM Punk adding, “…the time for payback is now.”
We go live to the Allstate Arena in Chicago where Michael Cole welcomes us to the show.
The Miz is out first to kick off the show.
WWE Intercontinental Championship – Triple Threat Match
Wade Barrett (c) vs. The Miz vs. Curtis Axel w/ Paul Heyman
The Miz gets in quick offense early on with big lefts to Wade Barrett and Curtis Axel. Miz tosses Axel over the top rope quickly and Miz with a quick face plant on Barrett. Barrett with a quick forearm to the back of Miz and Axel breaks up a pinfall attempt early on returning to the ring. Miz with a big left that drops Axel and Barrett with a big boot that drops Miz. Barrett puts Miz up on the top turnbuckle and Barrett hits some jabs to the ribs. Barrett then follows that with a big kick to the gut of Miz. Axel remains on the outside with Heyman telling him to pick his battles and be smart. Barrett catches Miz with a big kick to the ribs. Barrett cuts off Axel with knees when he tries jumping back in the ring. Miz attempts a comeback and Barrett cuts him off with a clothesline. Axel with a big dropkick to the jaw of Miz. Axel with rights and boots to Miz in the corner. Axel with a blockbuster to Miz from the corner that results in a two count. Axel with a big knee to Miz when he comes off the ropes. Axel with more right hands to Miz and follows with some big elbow blows to the back of the head.
Axel with a big back suplex on Miz and Barrett is back in to break up the pinfall. Barrett works over Axel in the corner. Miz drops Barrett with a big boot and then tosses Axel into Barrett in the corner. Miz gets the crowd in Chicago fired up. Miz connects with his corner clothesline to Barrett. Catches Axel with a shoulder block, comes off the top with a sledgehammer to Barrett and counters a sunset flip with a kick to the face on Axel. Miz gets a two count on Axel. Barrett counters out of a Figure Four attempt and then catches Miz with the Winds of Change. Axel breaks up the pinfall attempt. Axel with a Perfect Plex on Barrett and Miz barely breaks it up at the last second before the three count. Huge reaction in Chicago to the Perfect Plex. Heyman is yelling, “Come on!” Miz connects the Skull Crushing Finale. Barrett tosses Miz out. Barrett goes for the cover, but Miz pulls Barrett out. Miz then covers Axel for another close two count. Miz tosses Axel over the top rope. Miz gets the Figure Four locked on Barrett. Axel covers Barrett with the Figure Four applied. Axel wins.
Winner and new WWE Intercontinental Champion: Curtis Axel
After the match, Paul Heyman hugs Curtis Axel as they celebrate with the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler talk about Axel following in the footsteps of his father Mr. Perfect by also becoming the Intercontinental Champion.
A video package hyping the return of Mark Henry tomorrow night on RAW airs.
Backstage, we see a shot of Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman continuing to celebrate when they bump into Triple H. Triple H gets in Axel’s face and stares him down. Vince McMahon walks up and congratulates Axel shaking his hand. They walk off and Vince hypes Triple H vs. Curtis Axel tomorrow night on Monday Night RAW. Triple H says, “Nope, not feeling it at all.” Triple H walks off as Vince has an upset look on his face.
WWE Divas Championship Match
Kaitlyn (c) vs. AJ Lee w/ Big E Langston
The bell rings and AJ blows a kiss to Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn tosses AJ down and starts dropping right hands. AJ bails and Kaitlyn follows throwing her over the spanish announce table. Kaitlyn throws AJ back in the ring. They brawl to the outside again, AJ gets in a quick slap and the connects with a dropkick off the ring apron. Back in the ring, AJ goes for a cover and gets a two count. AJ cuts off Kaitlyn with a quick elbow. AJ with a quick reverse neckbreaker, holds on and connects with a second. Another cover by AJ and Kaitlyn kicks out. AJ takes the back of Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn backs her to the corner to break it up. AJ then kicks the back of Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn fires back with a dropkick when AJ hits the ropes. Kaitlyn with a clothesline, big elbow and a huge shoulder tackle on AJ. Kaitlyn powers out of AJ’s Black Widow submission. Kaitlyn pulls AJ by the legs and AJ is pulls the ring apron back. As the referee fixes the ring apron, AJ cracks Kaitlyn with some kind of an object. AJ remains down when the referee returns. AJ covers Kaitlyn and gets another two count. AJ screams out in frustration.
AJ then looks at the corner and starts climbing up to the top turnbuckle. AJ jumps and Kaitlyn catches her. Kaitlyn tries swinging AJ around her body and AJ gets her Black Widow submission applied. Kaitlyn drops to one knee and then powers out. Kaitlyn then backs to the corner and takes out AJ with a huge spear. Kaitlyn then picks up AJ, blows her a kiss and then throws her head off the mat. Kaitlyn then looks the leg and AJ kicks out. JBL scolds Kaitlyn on commentary for not trying to end the match earlier after the spear. Kaitlyn gets AJ up on her shoulders, AJ powers off, backs to the corner, Kaitlyn charges, AJ jumps up and Kaitlyn hits the corner. When Kaitlyn gets to her feet, she hops on the back of Kaitlyn and gets her Black Widow submission applied again. AJ is screaming at Kaitlyn to tap out. Kaitlyn is screaming in pain. Kaitlyn drops to a knee. Kaitlyn stands up trying to fight out once more. AJ gets it locked it even tighter and Kaitlyn drops down. Kaitlyn taps out.
Winner and new WWE Divas Champion: AJ Lee
After the match, AJ Lee clutches the WWE Divas Championship with her head down. She then gets up on the corner holding up the title as we see a shot of Big E Langston clapping at ringside. We see a shot of Kaitlyn recovering in the corner alone looking on as AJ and Big E celebrate heading to the back. Kaitlyn starts crying and falls to her knees in the entrance area. Layla comes out to console her. We then see highlights of the match leading to the finish.
Backstage, Layla is still consoling Kaitlyn. Natalya and Alicia Fox walk up consoling her as well. Kaitlyn continues to cry and then walks off saying she is sorry.
A promo for the WWE Money in the Bank PPV on July 14 is shown.
We then go to Josh Mathews with Big Show, R-Truth and Cody Rhodes as part of the WWE Payback pre-show and post-show crew. They talk about two new champions being crowned.

WWE United States Championship Match
Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Kane
Ambrose enters the match alone as the bell rings and we get started right away with Kane taking down Ambrose and keeping him grounded. Ambrose fights to his feet landing a few rights. Kane cuts off Ambrose with a big side slam. Ambrose starts working over Kane in the corner and gets in a quick dragon screw takedown. Ambrose keeps Kane grounded dropping a quick elbow and then applying pressure to the head of Kane. Kane catches Ambrose with a big boot as he starts to favor his leg in the corner. Kane goes up to the top turnbuckle and Ambrose cuts him off with a big right hand. Ambrose jumps up with Kane, Kane pushes him off, Kane jumps, Ambrose ducks, gets up on the second rope and connects with a twisting flying elbow. Ambrose hooks the leg and gets a two count early on in the title match. Ambrose goes back to work on the head and neck of Kane. Kane with a big uppercut to Ambrose as he jumped off the second rope again. Kane with a big kick to the head of Ambrose, hits the ropes and connects with a kick to the face. Kane with cover and Ambrose kicks out.
Kane with a choke, Ambrose breaks it up, Kane with an elbow, Ambrose gets Kane caught up in the ropes with a knee and then connects with a huge dropkick to the body of Kane. Ambrose with another cover and Kane kicks out after two. Ambrose locks up the left arm of Kane, teases he is going up top to execute Old School and Kane quickly pulls Ambrose off to the ring below. Kane with a series of clotheslines in the corner on Ambrose and finishes with a big side slam for a two count. Kane with a top rope clothesline that sends Ambrose flying back. Kane is teasing a chokeslam when Ambrose rolls to the ring apron and drops Kane’s chin off the top rope. Kane quickly responds with a shot to Ambrose sending him to the floor at ringside. Ambrose with a big slap to Kane. Kane responds with a big uppercut. Kane then starts clearing off the spanish announce table as the referee starts a count in the ring. Ambrose then catches Kane with a big DDT on the floor. The referee is still counting when the referee is still counting. The referee reaches the 10 count. The match is over.
Winner via count out and still WWE United States Champion: Dean Ambrose
After the match, Dean Ambrose is handed the WWE United States Championship belt as he celebrates. We see a shot of Kane recovering holding the top of his head in pain.
A video package airs hyping the return of Rob Van Dam at the Money in the Bank PPV next month on July 14.
We see highlights from earlier tonight of Sheamus def. Damien Sandow during the pre-show.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) w/ Big E Langston and AJ Lee vs. Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez
We got ring introductions for the champion Dolph Ziggler and challenger Alberto Del Rio.
The bell rings and Dolph Ziggler immediately bails. Ziggler returns to the ring, charges in and Del Rio connects with a big tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Ziggler bails again. Back in the ring, Del Rio connects with a big kick to the chest and then another big back suplex. They focus in on Ziggler’s head bouncing off the mat after his recent concussion. Ziggler quickly responds with a huge dropkick that levels Del Rio. Ziggler charges in and Del Rio launches him over the top rope to the outside. Del Rio grabs Ziggler at ringside and throws him face first off the announce table. Del Rio does this a second time and Big E Langston steps up to break it up. The referee sees this and sends Big E to the back. We see a shot of Del Rio smiling. Ziggler then fights back sending Del Rio face first off the spanish announce table at ringside. Back in the ring, Del Rio connects with another huge kick this time to the head/arm of Ziggler. Del Rio with headbutts to Ziggler. We can hear AJ yelling at the referee at ringside. Del Rio with big forearms and Ziggler floats over in suplex attempt into a sleeper.
Del Rio breaks up the sleeper sending Ziggler head first into the corner. Del Rio with another huge kick to the side of Ziggler’s head. You can see the referee telling Del Rio to watch the shots to the head. Ziggler is wrapped up in the ropes holding on. Del Rio with forearm shots to the back of Ziggler and closes with a big shot to the head. Del Rio drops Ziggler back first to the mat, covers and Ziggler kicks out after two. Ziggler responds with a quick swinging neckbreaker that results in a two count. Ziggler is holding his head and the referee asks Ziggler if he wants him to stop the match. Ziggler tells the referee no. Ziggler goes up to the top turnbuckle and Del Rio catches him with a big kick to the head. Del Rio hooks the head of Ziggler, flips back and plants Ziggler face first in a back suplex from the top turnbuckle landing with a huge thud. Del Rio covers Ziggler and Ziggler somehow is able to kick out after two. Del Rio can’t believe it. Del Rio baseball slides Ziggler out of the ring and then catches Ziggler with a huge kick to the side of the head from the ring apron.
A WWE official immediately starts to check on Ziggler at ringside. The referee holds Del Rio back. Ziggler is pushing the WWE official away saying he is fine. Del Rio with a dropkick through the ropes to the head of Ziggler and Ziggler is out of it. Ricardo is yelling, “He is fine! He is fine!” Del Rio rolls Ziggler back in the ring and backs up in the corner. Del Rio connects with a huge kick to the back of the head, hooks the leg and Ziggler still kicks out. Del Rio can’t believe it. Del Rio starts dropping huge rights and dropping the head of Ziggler off the mat repeatedly. The fans in Chicago are booing Del Rio. Ziggler stumbls to his feet, kicks away at the knee of Del Rio and the connects with a huge jumping Zig Zag! Ziggler is back down holding his head. Del Rio recovers in the corner and Ziggler is recovering on his knees. Del Rio connects with a huge superkick. Del Rio covers Ziggler and gets the pinfall.
Winner and new WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio
After the match, Ricardo Rodriguez hits the ring and announces the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio celebrates with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. We then see highlights of all the punishment Ziggler took with repeated blows to the head. Back live, we see a shot of Del Rio holding up the title in the entrance area. Ziggler is just recovering as the crowd in Chicago chants his name.
We go back to the Payback panel with Josh Mathews, Big Show, R-Truth and Cody Rhodes.
Alberto Del Rio then walks back out and he wants Chicago to give it up for the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Mixed reaction from the Chicago crowd. He talks about accomplishing so much since debuting in WWE and he did it all for the fans. Del Rio asks for the support and gets loud boo’s from the crowd in Chicago. He said the fans know he is the best in the business and that he gives his all in the ring. Del Rio asks to hear one more time for the new World Heavyweight Champion as Ricardo does the announcement.

Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk w/ Paul Heyman
Chris Jericho was out first to a big reaction. Huge reaction when CM Punk’s music hit.
The bell rings and we get a lock up. Chris Jericho pushes CM Punk to the corner. Another lock up and they trade taking each others back. Punk gets Jericho down and keeps it grounded with a quick submission attempt. Jericho counters into a submission of his own. Punk with a quick snapmare. Jericho with a shoulder block that drops Punk. Punk fires back with a big dropkick. Punk with shoulder shots to Jericho in the corner. Jericho counters with boots to Punk in the corner. Jericho then sends Punk over the top rope with a clothesline. Jericho with a dropkick through the ropes sending Punk into the ring barricade. Punk with a quick shot to Jericho in the ring, goes to the top turnbuckle and connects with a quick sledgehammer. Jericho with chops. Punk cuts him off with a knee to the gut and a quick two count. Punk works over the left arm of Jericho on the mat. Jericho breaks it up and starts dropping big right hands to the head of Punk. Punk with a boot to Jericho in the corner. Jericho avoids a springboard flying clothesline from Punk. Lawler points out that Punk is winded.
Punk avoids a Lionsault when Jericho lands on his feet and Punk counters Jericho again. Punk is breathing pretty heavily at this point in the match. Punk with a high knee to Jericho in the corner. Jericho counters the bulldog attempt by Punk and connects with a Lionsault that results in a two count. Punk has Jericho up for the GTS. Jericho counters and gets Punk down for a Walls of Jericho attempt. Jericho gets Punk turned over and gets the Walls of Jericho locked in deep. Heyman is in shock at ringside. Punk is reaching for the bottom rope. Punk fights out of the Walls of Jericho and gets the Anaconda Vice applied on Jericho. Heyman is screaming at Jericho to tap at ringside. Jericho gets to the bottom rope and Punk breaks the hold. Punk has Jericho up for the GTS. Jericho counters the GTS and attempts another Walls of Jericho. Punk counters out of that attempt, goes for another GTS and Jericho counters that into a roll up that results in a close two count. Jericho with a Codebreaker on Punk. Jericho gets another two count. Jericho then drops some big rights over Punk.
Punk is back up with Jericho. The two exchange shots. Fans in Chicago are behind Punk. Punk with a dropkick, high knee, bulldog, goes to the top turnbuckle, stands up and connects with his flying elbow. Punk is back up and is calling for the GTS. Punk connects with the GTS, hooks the leg and Jericho kicks out! The fans in Chicago are calling for one more GTS. Punk has Jericho up again, Jericho with elbows, Punk counters a Codebreaker attempt, clotheslines Jericho over the top rope and the connects with a suicide dive on Jericho. Punk tosses Jericho back inside, gets up on the top turnbuckle, jumps and Jericho catches him with a Codebreaker in the air. Heyman can’t believe it at ringside. Jericho hooks the leg and Punk kicks out. Jericho slaps the mat in frustration. Jericho locks the head of Punk and drops elbows. Punk counters a Walls of Jericho attempt into a small package for a two count. More shot exchanges with Punk getting the better of Jericho. Jericho with a huge counter and gets Punk locked back in the Walls of Jericho. Jericho has the Walls of Jericho locked in deep.
A loud “CM PUNK” chant breaks out in Chicago as Heyman is begging Punk to not tap out at ringside. Punk finds a way to break free favoring his back. Punk with repeated forearm shots to the lower back of Jericho. Punk gets Jericho back up and connects once again with the GTS. Jericho stays on his feet bouncing off the corner. Punk grabs Jericho and hits another GTS. Punk covers Jericho for the win.
Winner: CM Punk
After the match, Paul Heyman gets in the ring and celebrates the win with CM Punk. We see a shot of Punk on his knees talking with Heyman and then jumping up on the corner to a huge reaction in Chicago.
WWE Tag Team Championships Match
The Shield (c’s) vs. Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan
We start with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. Reigns goes after Bryan and Bryan responds with some big kicks in the corner. Bryan already with his flip off the corner, hits the ropes and Reigns cuts him off with a big clothesline to slow things down. Quick tag to Seth Rollins. He gets in a few shots and tags Reigns back in. Rollins sends Bryan into Reigns who takes out Bryan with another big clothesline. Reigns keeps Bryan grounded applying a headlock. Reigns with a big high knee to Bryan that results in a two count. Tag to Orton and Rollins. Orton lights up Rollins with a series of clotheslines and a quick powerslam. Orton tosses Rollins to the ring apron, pulls him in through the ropes, Reigns gets involved, Orton kicks Reigns in the face, tosses Rollins aside and connects with his DDT through the ropes on Reigns. Orton takes a big boot from Rollins in the corner, but catches Rollins with a powerslam flying off the corner for another two count. Reigns with a big right hand that drops Orton falling to the ringside area. Rollins tosses Orton back in and gets a two count.
Tag to Reigns and both members of The Shield separate the legs of Orton at the same time. Reigns distracts the referee as Rollins gets in a quick choke on Orton with his boots. Quick tag to Rollins who works over Orton in the corner with boots. Rollins drops Orton face first into the turnbuckle and then tags Reigns back in. Another quick tag to Rollins. Orton attempts a comeback when Rollins catches him with a big kick to the head. Orton drops Rollins on his head and quickly tags Bryan back in. Bryan comes off the top rope hitting a double dropkick on both members of The Shield. Bryan with a dropkick to Reigns. Bryan with a dropkick to Rollins. Bryan with a huge jumping dropkick to Reigns in the corner. Bryan with repeated kicks to the chest of Reigns. Bryan finishes off Reigns with a huge kick to the head. Bryan gets Reigns out and then tosses Rollins out of the ring as well. Bryan hits the ropes and attempts a suicide dive, but he catches Orton instead. Reigns then levels Bryan with a big clothesline at ringside. Back in the ring, Reigns gets a two count on Bryan.
Tag is made to Rollins. Bryan with a big dropkick to Reigns in the corner. Bryan grabs Rollins who is up on the top turnbuckle. Bryan hooks the arms of Rollins and powers him off with a big Tiger Driver from the top turnbuckle. Bryan then goes for the No Lock when Reigns jumps in. Bryan takes out Reigns. Bryan then gets the No Lock applied on Rollins. Reigns is back in to break it up. Bryan ends up taking a spear from Reigns when Reigns counters out of an RKO. Orton with an RKO on Reigns. Rollins launches Orton out of the ring through the ropes. Rollins with his big knee to the head on Bryan. Rollins hooks the leg of Bryan and gets the pinfall.

After the match, we see a shot of an upset Randy Orton heading to the back.

WWE Championship – Three Stages of Hell Match
John Cena (c) vs. Ryback
Mixed reactions for both John Cena and Ryback in Chicago tonight.
First Stage: Lumberjack Match
Lock up and Ryback launches Cena to the corner. Ryback with boots to Cena keeping him grounded. Ryback catches Cena coming off the ropes and executes a big powerslam. Ryback with a fallaway slam on Cena. Cena with a quick suplex and scoop slam combo on Ryback. Cena drops a quick elbow and then Ryback tosses Cena to the outside. Cena drops in where the babyfaces are and they let him return to the ring. Ryback with headbutts to Cena after a two count. Cena with counters over the back of Ryback and Ryback hangs on to Cena dropping him with a modified stunner over his back. Ryback tosses Cena out near the heels and the Lumberjacks get in some shots on Cena before tossing him back in. Ryback with a suplex. Ryback tosses Cena out again and the Lumberjacks get in more shots on Cena. Cena then tosses Ryback out and the heels leave him alone. Back in the ring, Cena with his repeated shoulder blocks and twisting powerbomb. Cena calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, hits the ropes, Ryback grabs Cena, presses him out and into the Lumberjacks at ringside. Cena takes some punches and kicks and is tossed back in. Ryback says it is time to finish it. Cena has Ryback up and tosses him out. Ryback slaps one of the Lumberjacks and literally all of the Lumberjacks jump in attacking Ryback. A huge brawl breaks out at ringside. Cena gets up on the top turnbuckle and jumps over all of the Lumberjacks. A huge pile of Lumberjacks are down. Cena and Ryback are rolled back in. Cena gets the STF applied on Ryback. Ryback breaks free and connects with Shell Shocked. Ryback gets the pinfall.
Winner of the First Stage: Ryback
Second Stage: Tables Match
The bell rings and here we go in the second stage. Ryback attacks Cena right away near the corner and goes outside to grab a table. Ryback sets up a table in the middle of the ring. Ryback grabs Cena, gets him up for a powerbomb, Cena slips out, hits the ropes and Ryback catches Cena with a modified spear. Ryback picks up Cena, presses him, Cena counters off, Cena gets Ryback up for an AA, Ryback flips the table over, counters off and Cena pulls the top rope down sending Ryback to the outside. On the outside, Ryback sends Cena shoulder first into the steel ring steps. Ryback grabs part of the steel steps and brings them in the ring. Ryback also props the table up in the corner. Ryback then hits Cena using the steel steps, holds them over his head and yells, “Ryback rules!” Cena is getting back up near the table. Ryback has the steps in hand. Ryback charges, throws the steps and it breaks the table in half. Cena grabs the steel steps and hits Ryback in the head with it. Cena then grabs another table from under the ring. Cena has the table setup in the ring when Ryback hits him with the steel steps. Cena falls over the table. Ryback drives the steps down, Cena moves and Ryback breaks that table with the steel steps as well. Ryback launches the steps at Cena again. Cena ducks and they go flying to the outside. Cena connects with his twisting powerbomb and Five Knuckle Shuffle. Ryback counters an AA and connects with a big spinebuster. Ryback with his big clothesline that levels Cena. Cena with an AA on Ryback through the table.
Winner of the Second Stage: John Cena
Third Stage: Ambulance Match
They brawl to the ringside area. Ryback starts clearing the announce table off. Ryback gives Cena a powerbomb crashing him through the announce table. JBL said Cena’s head hit part of the chair on his way down crashing through the table at ringside. Ryback grabs Cena and tosses him back in the ring. The bell officially rings as Ryback sends Cena out of the ring. We see a shot of the ambulance near the entrance area. Ryback puts Cena up on his shoulder. Cena sends Ryback face first into the side of the ambulance. Cena pulls crutches out of the ambulance. Ryback kicks away the knee of Cena. Ryback throws a right hand and almost breaks his hand punching the window of the ambulance. Cena picks up Ryback and throws Ryback at the ambulance. Ryback opens the drivers side door of the ambulance, attempts an irish whip, Cena counters and Ryback tears the door off the ambulance crashing through it. Cena picks up the door and hits Ryback with it. Ryback pulls off part of the ambulance and cracks it over Cena’s back. Ryback has Cena ready for a powerbomb when Cena counters giving Ryback a high back body to the windshield of the ambulance. Cena starts climbing up to the top of the ambulance and he grabs the siren. Cena throws it into the face of Ryback who falls back down near the ambulance. Ryback grabs a crutch and crawls to the top of the ambulance with Cena. Cena takes the crutch and cracks it over the back of Ryback. Cena smiles, picks up Ryback, gives him an AA and Ryback crashes through the roof!
Cena gets the win.
Winner of the Third Stage and still WWE Champion: John Cena
After the match, we hear the ambulance start up as John Cena celebrates with the WWE Championship in the middle of the ring. We then see highlights of the end with Cena connecting with the AA on Ryback sending him crashing through the roof of the ambulance.
