The statement issued by WWE on Wednesday regarding World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler suffering a concussion at the Smackdown taping on 5/7 in North Carolina was indeed legitimate and not part of a storyline. According to a report by Dave Meltzer, Ziggler has been removed from all in-ring appearances until further notice.
WWE protocol is to keep a wrestler out of the ring when suffering a concussion until they pass the “Impact testing” program that is used to determine if they are healthy enough to perform. His status for the Extreme Rules PPV in 10 days is unknown, with some saying that it could be dangerous to have him involved even if he passes the Impact test.
