According to Deadline, Disney’s ‘Moana 2’, starring Dwayne Johnson opened with a huge global start of $389 million. Also, per Box Office Mojo the film opened up domestically at $225 million on 4,200 screens.
Deadline also notes Disney has confirmed Moana 2 had the highest ever opening weekend for an animated film on a global scale, beating the previous record which was held by The Super Mario Bros Movie at $377 million. The film also had a five-day domestic start.
The budget for Moana 2 is reportedly said to have been $150 million.
At the time of this writing, Johnson’s other film ‘Red One’ is at $148 million worldwide after opening back on November 15. The film reportedly had a budget of $250 million.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was last seen on WWE programming at the end of the Bad Blood pay-per-view, which was back on October 5.
