In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Damian Priest talked about being offered a role in the Marvel Studios film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Addressing rumors of the opportunity being taken from him, the former World Heavyweight Champion stated:
It’s a long story but basically it got taken away from me, but not from Marvel.
Priest acknowledged Van Vliet’s comment that the previous regime of WWE was “a little bit different at that time,” adding:
Look, come what may, I’m good with it. Maybe I’d do something like that, I go a different route, and I’m not sitting here with you being a world champion, like I won a world championship at WrestleMania, I don’t know if that happens. It didn’t work out, not the end of the world. The movie was great though.
Filming for the movie took place between June 2021 and March 2022, with parts of it being filmed in Puerto Rico, an area very familiar to Priest, who had the honor of competing in his homeland against fellow Puerto Rican and music superstar Bad Bunny in a San Juan Street Fight at Backlash 2023.
For his part, Priest would go on to become World Heavyweight Champion by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase at WrestleMania XL to defeat Drew McIntyre.
