A new report from Fightful Select has revealed new details surrounding the WWE NXT debut of Giulia, who appeared at No Mercy to confront Roxanne Perez following the NXT Women’s Championship match.
Rehearsals for the PLE included a producer standing in for the former NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, to keep her surprise appearance a secret, with many not seeing Giulia until mere moments beforehand.
WWE has had big plans for a match between Giulia and Perez dating back to NXT Stand & Deliver, with the No Mercy debut allowing the former Stardom champion to finish her obligations in Japan for the upstart Marigold promotion.
The report notes that the match could take place as early as NXT’s debut on The CW on 10/1 in Chicago, with Giulia likely making her in-ring debut at some point beforehand.
The company is said to be happy with the injection of attention to the women’s division as a result of Giulia coming in, though there were some concerns about her changing up her style due to the idea of being “too stiff” in the past.
In regards to how long Giulia will keep her in NXT, the report states that WWE is taking a “wait and see” approach, with how fast she takes to the American television style playing a factor in the decision process.
