NXT Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels recently spoke with Fightful’s Iridian Fierro for WGN Radio regarding the premiere episode of NXT on the CW and CM Punk being part of that show.
Michaels said that he will “not let the cat out of the bag” regarding CM Punk’s involvement when NXT premiere’s October 1 on the CW from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
Michaels did say, however, Punk will play a major role for NXT and that there will be other surprises to come.
“Can’t let the cat out of the bag on that right now. So, he’s going to be there. He’s going to be playing a major role, obviously, for us, and again, as I said. Certainly, other surprises are sure to come.”
Punk’s last appearance on NXT was at the brand’s Deadline premium live event which took place on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT. He appeared in an in-ring segment with Shawn Michaels.
At the time of the segment, Punk had recently returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 and was still considered a “free agent.”
