WWE Tryout July 13th in Waterloo, Iowa

For the second year in a row, in conjunction with the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend, A WWE Tryout will be held in Waterloo, Iowa. This year’s event will take place on Friday, July 13th at 1PM. It is open to wrestlers, referees, managers, and ring announcers. On hand to scout talent last year was long-time WWE talent scout, Jerry Brisco. Briscoe has been a part of the WWE for 3 decades and has been responsible for the signing of many WWE superstars including Brock Lesnar. This year Jerry Briscoe returns on behalf of the WWE in hopes of finding his next big signee. He will be assisted in assessing talent by a special guest to be named later. Last year, Jim Ross and Terry Funk were ringside giving words of advice to the participants. Also in attendance will be several promoters from throughout the Midwest. It will be a great chance to show what you have in front of people that may have never seen you before.

The format of the tryout will be each wrestler will wrestle a full 8 minute match including introduction(no music). There will be a small crowd present. It will be treated identical to a live match. After all wrestlers have had their match, Jerry Briscoe will speak to the group and individually to anyone that has caught his eye. Wear your full ring gear. IF YOU SIGN UP AS A PAIR, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WRESTLE EACH OTHER IF YOU CHOOSE. Otherwise, you will be paired up the day of the show.

Friday night after the tryout, Impact Pro Wrestling will be holding their annual Hall of Fame wrestling show at the Five Sullivan Center. Already committed to attend are Gerald Briscoe, Kurt Angle, Road Warrior Animal, JBL/John Bradshaw Layfield, Bill Apter, Baron Von Raschke, DANNY HODGE, Dan Severn, Larry Hennig, and many more to be announced in the coming months. There will be an opportunity for those partaking in the tryout to earn a spot on the show that evening.

Last year’s participant Jason Ayers recently signed with the WWE and four others received calls and continue their journey to becoming a WWE wrestler. The cost for this opportunity is $150 with 100 percent of it going back to the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum. Spots are limited and will be given on a first come first serve basis. All trained/experienced professional wrestlers are welcome.
