Recent reports have indicated that WWE may have its eyes on two of NJPW’s top stars.
Dave Meltzer reported in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter that interest in Kazuchika Okada has been renewed as of late, stemming from an increased presence of Shinsuke Nakamura on WWE programming that sources claim is directed at the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion:
The pitch is that [Okada]’s now 36 and he’s close with Nakamura and Nakamura has worked years in WWE and it’s far easier on his body. The idea is that WWE is the one thing Okada has never done and he’s done everything he can do in New Japan.
Despite the interest, Meltzer has noted that there is no indication that Okada is interested in leaving New Japan.
Meanwhile, a report from PWInsider states that sources within WWE are still showing interest in Giulia, despite the NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion not being at the Performance Center this past week.
It has been noted before that Giulia’s current contract expires next March.
