Updates on status of AJ Styles, Liv Morgan; John Cena talks process behind WWE return

A report from PWInsider per F4WOnline has indicated that AJ Styles is scheduled to return to WWE on the 11/10 edition of SmackDown, and will be back regularly from that point on.

Styles was last seen preparing to be John Cena’s tag team partner at Fastlane against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa, but was attacked and taken out of the match by the Bloodline instead.

Dave Meltzer also wrote in the Observer that Liv Morgan is expected to return soon, after being out of action since July with a shoulder injury.

John Cena appeared on WWE After The Bell and discussed how his WWE return came to be, calling it a happening beyond his control before explaining the process he took to coming back:

“So, I’m fortunate enough to have a lot of things on the movie and television side lined up — none of which I can talk about because we’re in the middle of a labor dispute. Then the labor dispute happens and the Screen Actors Guild decides as an entirety to go on strike, which either leaves me idle or asking questions of, ‘Well, what can I do? What is within my control?’ And I wanted to see if it was okay to come back to tour.

So we called the proper people at SAG, we got written, legal okay that it would be okay to come back to WWE. And once I had that, then I could ask the question of, ‘Hey, WWE, do you guys want me to come back and hang out for a little bit?’ So — here we are.”
