In an article with The Catalyst, PR director Jason Latimer spoke on the efforts the tourism board of St. Petersburg/Clearwater made to bring the Royal Rumble to Tropicana Field.
Latimer revealed that the board spent $500,000 toward this end, stating the money came from tourism development tax funding accrued from hotel stays throughout Pinellas County.
It was also revealed in the article that the Greater Orlando Sports Commission allocated $850,000 for its own bid to host the event at Camping World Stadium.
This follows a promise from WWE CEO Nick Khan to shareholders of site fees from cities to host WWE Premium Live Events.
