Backstage notes from the 9/18 WWE Raw in Salt Lake City

Before Raw went on the air Monday night live from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, WWE taped an episode of WWE Main Event with Nikki Cross vs. Indi Hartwell and Tegan Nox vs. Xia Li.

Originally, Natalya was scheduled to face Xia. However that was a changed later in the day.  Nick Aldis produced Cross vs. Hartwell and Bobby Roode produced Nox vs. Li. Tegan Nox was originally sscheduled to challenge Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship on Raw, but that was also changed.

Dragon Lee was brought in to Monday Night Raw as part of a strategy to raise the profile of the NXT brand across Raw and SmackDown to hopefully have more eyeballs tune into NXT on Tuesday nights.

Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was originally scheduled on the card to follow the Cody Rhodes vs. Dominik Mysterio, but the decision was made to push it back in order to push more star power to later segments, with Seth Rollins as part of the segment.

A promo by Becky Lynch was added to Monday’s Raw for the final hour.

Shawn Daivari was listed as the producer for the Cody Rhodes segment that opening tonight’s show.
