According to Fightful Select even though several veterans have contacted WWE about making appearances at the Royal Rumble, the company is reportedly said to be leaning away from what they are calling “non-traditional surprises.”
Fightful Select also noted that WWE’s creative team and producers have been soliciting pitches for the “non-traditional surprises.” Creative was said to be adamant that for last year’s Rumble about not using NXT talent. However, it remains to be seen what if this will change under Chief Content Officer Triple H.
The same report also notes that as of last week, WWE had no plans for Ronda Rousey to appear at the Royal Rumble. However, those plans could change. It was said that up until December, WWE had Rousey on the schedule to work a singles match at the show.
Fightful Select concluded by saying that WWE is “very confident” in their women’s division due to the call-ups and hires from 2022, and with how this will all factor into the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
