Here is highlights from WWE’s first quarter financial results for 2011. All numbers are reflected over the last three months ending March 31, 2011.
* Revenues were $119.9 million, down from $138.7 million in the prior year quarter.
* Operating income was $13.2 million, down from $37.3 million in the prior year.
* Net income was $8.6 million, down from $24.7 million in the prior year.
WWE noted that several items “impacted comparability, primarily the timing of our annual WrestleMania® event and a $2.8 million film impairment charge.”
* It was noted that $1.4 million was spent in marketing Wrestlemania. Numbers for Wrestlemania will factor into the second quarter results. Wrestlemania generated $28.8 million in revenue and $13.1 million in profit contribution
* Live and Televised Entertainment was $70.4 million, down from $98.2 million in the prior year.
* Consumer Products was $34.8 million, up from $30.7 million in the prior year.
* Digital Media was $6.1 million, down slightly from $6.4 million in the prior year.
* WWE Studios generated $8.6 million, up from $3.4 million in the prior year.
* North America revenue was $89.7 million, down from $106.9 million in the prior year.
* Overseas revenue was $30.2 million, down slightly from $31.8 million in the prior year.
* Live Event revenue was $19.6 million, down from $26.0 million in the prior year (not including Wrestlemania was a major factor here). 77 events were held versus 75 last year.
* Pay Per View revenue was $13.5 million, down from $32.4 million (again, not including Wrestlemania was a factor here).
