WWE has issued a statement about reports of fans in attendance on the Monday television tapings of Raw and SmackDown, as well as the rumor they were discouraged from wearing masks.
Fans have not been in attendance at WWE events since March 13. Yesterday, a select number of friends and family were permitted to attend WWE’s TV production.
These individuals were required to participate in medical screenings prior to entering the closed set at our training facility, and were kept apart from in-ring performers and production personnel. Attendance was below 20% capacity and social distancing guidelines were adhered to with at least six feet between parties, thus face masks were not required.
Rumors were circulating around in other news circles that fans were discouraged from wearing masks. Jon Alba of Spectrum Sports 360 spoke to some that were in attendance on Monday. The people said they did not feel pressured not to wear masks and simply chose not to wear them when the tapings began.
Wrestleview never reported on these incorrect rumors.
WWE postponed their television tapings of next week’s Raw and SmackDown set for Tuesday because a developmental talent in attendance tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, WWE tested all persons that were in attendance at the training and production facilities on Tuesday. It is anticipated that they will tape next week’s Raw and SmackDown on Wednesday.
We will continue to follow this story as more becomes available.
The fans I spoke to told me they never felt pressured by #WWE not to wear a mask for TV purposes or any other reason. They confirmed temperature checks, and signed waivers as well. One noted they were in a group that had masks on them, and chose not to wear when taping started.
