FOX 8 in New Orleans is reporting that a tourist attending WrestleMania 34 weekend in New Orleans has contracted the measles. The tourist attended the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony last Friday night at the Smoothie King Center.
The Louisiana Department of Public Health has started contacting those in attendance to explain the situation and to monitor any symptoms, which include runny nose, cough, fever and eventually white spots on the inside of the mouth or rashes on the skin.

Health officials have started to track any location the tourist visited in New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend, who flew in from the UK. It was also confirmed by FOX 8 that the tourist, whose name was not revealed, remains hospitalized in New Orleans.
“Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that can spread rapidly amongst individuals who are unvaccinated. In extreme cases, the illness can lead to hospitalization and even death. The individual found to have measles is now under care in a New Orleans hospital.”
The article by FOX 8 revealed additional details about the measles, more specifically for those worried who may have come in contact with the tourist this weekend.
“It can take anywhere from 10 to 21 days after a person comes in contact with someone with measles for that person to develop symptoms. These typically begin with a high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash that typically spreads from the head to the rest of the body. In some cases, tiny white spots may appear inside the mouth two to three days after the onset of symptoms. Common complications for measles include ear infections and diarrhea, seen in about 10 percent of patients.”
The Louisiana Department of Health issued a statement on Monday regarding the tourist.
WWE has yet to officially comment on the situation as of Thursday.
