Video package opens looking at how we got to tonight’s Cruiserweight Title Match.
Commentary predicts who will win in the main event.
Kalisto def. Tony Nese by disqualification
Kalisto won a good opener following interference from Buddy Murphy. Nice close nearfalls with Nese countering Salida Del Sol into a one-armed buckle bomb and a beautiful plancha by Kalisto. Murphy attacks Kalisto following the bell, but the Lucha House Party cleans house and Murphy has to be held back by Nese, setting up a new program.
Backstage segment involving 205 Live GM Drake Maverick, TJP and Noam Dar setting up a rematch between the two for next week.
Lio Rush def. Colin Delaney by pinfall
Rush wins in a solid showcase match with his Dragon’s Claw Frog Splash. Akira Tozawa was watching the match from ringside. Delaney was part of the WWE version of ECW from 2007-2008 and currently works for the AIW promotion based out of Cleveland.
Following the match, Rush and Tozawa go back-and-forth on the mic until Maverick comes out and makes a match between the two for next week.
Backstage segment where Mustafa Ali pumps up Cedric Alexander for the main event, then we get a selfie promo from Drew Gulak, The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher saying that they will be looking closely at the main event.
Main Event:Cedric Alexander def. Hideo Itami to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship by pinfall
Cedric retains the title following the Lumbar Check after several hot nearfalls where it looked like Itami would win the title. Another damn good main event this week for 205 Live for the second week in a row and to me, Itami’s best match he has had since he has been in WWE/NXT. Itami looked like he walked back the clock into his previous days as KENTA from ROH and NOAH with the sheer amount of intensity and viciousness shown in his offense. Cedric showed some good fire on his comebacks and made Itami’s stuff look like a million bucks.
Another match from the 205 Live brand I would highly recommend and its been fun to see this quiet resurgence for 205 Live following the departure of Enzo Amore back in January.
Two weeks in a row #205Live has put on a fantastic main event. Cedric Alexander vs. Hideo Itami delivered in spades tonight. The best Hideo Itami has looked since he came to #WWE four years ago. Highly recommended viewing. – @Jason_Namako
