Ring of Honor Wrestling on Sinclair
January 31, 2015
Nashville, Tennessee (Tennessee State Fairgrounds)
Commentators: Kevin Kelly, Steve Corino
Recap by: Jason Namako of Wrestleview.com
We start with a promo by Ring of Honor Television Champion Jay Lethal, talking about his Triple Threat title defense tonight against Matt Sydal and ACH. Lethal says that ROH has run out of ideas, so they are having me face 2 people who I’ve already beaten before and giving them one more chance, like it’s a late Christmas.
J. Diesel mentions that this is pretty much a Handicap Match because Sydal & ACH are a tag-team. Truth Martini says ROH is stacking the deck against Lethal.
ACH says that tonight, he is gonna take what he should have taken a longtime ago, the TV Title. The playing field tonight is a bit different, with Sydal in the ring as well. Sydal has shown me so much about what a high-flyer can be today, but that is not what’s important tonight. What’s important is taking the TV Title tonight from Jay Lethal and that’s motivation.
We see the usual intro, then go to the opening match as Veda Scott joins commentary for the match.
MOOSE w/Stokely Hathaway & Veda Scott def. The Romantic Touch by pinfall with the Hit Stick.
Before the next match involving the Decade, Jimmy Jacobs cuts a promo talking about the group and what they will do, now without Roderick Strong. Jacobs says the Decade is looking for new “young boys”, so we are giving 3 guys a shot to see what they have against us. Whitmer cuts Jacobs off and says that while 3 is good, 4 is even better, so I’ve removed myself from this match so we can check out another guy who might have what it takes to be our new “young boy.” Out comes Chris LaRusso, who Whitmer says he is giving the opportunity of a lifetime to. Do not disappoint me!
The Decade (Jimmy Jacobs, Adam Page & Chris LaRusso) w/BJ Whitmer def. Leon St. Giovanni, Chris Chambers & Shinya Ali by pinfall when Page pinned Ali with Turn the Page.
During the match, Whitmer & Corino got into it at the commentary table after Whitmer snatched Corino’s headset off of him to talk.
Afterwards, Whitmer laid out LaRusso with the Exploder, then locked him in Roderick Strong’s Strong Hold, yelling for Strong in the process.
We go to a promo from the Briscoes about the 6-Person Tag next week as they & ODB face The Kingdom & Maria Kanellis. Jay says they tried to tell Maria they had something for her with ODB. Mark says ODB is training on the chicken farm for the match next week. Jay says the “Dutchess of the Double-Wide” will be coming after the “Queen of the Kingdom” next week.
Caprice Coleman joins commentary for the next match.
2015 ROH Top Prospect Tournament 1st Round Match: Ashley Sixx def. Dalton Castle to advance to the Semi-Finals by pinfall with the 6-Year Itch (Kneeling Jawbreaker).
Before the match, Castle came out with 2 servants and wore a very unique peacock-style ring jacket.
During the match, we see 2 guys wearing the red masks from the videos over the past 2 weeks with the distorted voices in the crowd watching the match.
Adam Cole makes his way to the ring, wearing a sling on his right arm as he sustained a shoulder injury during the Fight Without Honor with Jay Briscoe at Final Battle back in December. Cole has a mic and goes to speak, but instead flips off the crowd and leaves, without saying anything.
Main Event in a Triple Threat Match for the Ring of Honor Television Title: Jay Lethal © w/The House of Truth def. Matt Sydal & ACH to retain the title by pinfall when he pinned ACH with the Lethal Injection.
Afterwards, Martini has an Alberto El Patron t-shirt and Lethal spits on it. Lethal continues the attack on ACH until Alberto runs in to clear the ring of Lethal. Alberto tends to ACH as the show closes.
