Picks time for the Bash. Not a bad little card listed here for tomorrow night’s party in Sacra-tomato. Let’s get started.
The Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler
I am filled with mixed emotions about this match on this card, and this feud in general. While I have been entertained by the antics of Ziggler, and Khali’s inability to catch Ziggler to slaughter him, the facts are pretty simple. This match, in one way or another, has been on the last few Smackdown broadcasts already. I think it’s already happened twice on free television, but I am certain it has happened already once. So, tell me, what is different about this feud to get them to clash one more time on pay per view? What can they pull out of the bag of tricks to make this feud worthy of pay per view?
Answer, I don’t think that much. Khali will win by DQ, because I am suspecting Ziggler will find another weapon, and beat the Punjabi Playboy down. It’s certain of one thing, however, through all of this. Khali’s days in WWE are numbered. He can barely move in the ring. He is abyssmal now. Before he was bad. Now, he’s awful to watch technically.
WINNER: The Great Khali
John Cena vs. The Miz
Two non title matches on a pay per view, and the former multi – time world champion is in one of them. I never thought I’d see the day.
Couple of schools of thought here. One, will Big Show get involved? Two, will Morrison come in to outdo his former partner in some way, shape, or form, or three, will this be the day that either Cena shuts up Miz for good, or Miz gets the true pinfall, and becomes absolutely unbearable to anyone and everyone who watches the red and white?
Answer all that, and you’ve got a match. I’ll pick Cena to win, but this one could go either way. I have to be surprised, however, as I never thought I’d see Cena this far away from the world title. It’s really astounding to believe how far the push has decreased for this guy. I know there’s a movie project somewhere in there, but still, he’s gone from competing for world titles to fending off a pissed off broken hearted giant, and a loud mouthed shnook. Not exactly a jump in competition, don’t you think?
WINNER: John Cena
WWE Women’s Champioonship
Melina vs. Michelle McCool
The only reason that McCool has a legitimate shot here is the presence of her sidekick, Alicia Fox. If Melina gets someone to help her and watch her back so she can focus on the Florida State All American, it’s going to be a tough fight. If she doesn’t, the champ is in for an uphill battle all night. The question here is, who does WWE want to have the honor of being the first diva to win both the women’s title and the divs title? There seems to be two major candidates for that, Michelle McCool, and Mickie James. This is McCool’s shot to do it. Obviously, I want Mickie James to have the honor of being the first double champion in the divas division, so I’ll pick Melina here, but if McCool does win the belt, it won’t surprise me in the least.
WINNER: Melina
Unified WWE Tag Team Championship
Carlito & Primo vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase
It’s been rumoured of DiBiase turning face in the coming months to help promote his upcoming movie, The Marine 2. This is Legacy’s first shot at the unified belts since the Colons won them back in Houston. Is this the time where DiBiase breaks from the pack, or is this the time where Legacy gets the true stranglehold on the WWE? This match, to me, is also a pick ’em match, but I am going to go with a title change here for one reason. Legacy has a pretty major up side, and they may be able to get some good leverage out of them as Unified champs before the breakup when DiBiase begins the promotion for his movie. The Colons have run their course, I believe. I’ll take the title change here.
WINNERS: Legacy
Title vs. Mask Match for the Intercontinental Championship
Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio
I don’t like this idea of the mask involved in the storyline at all. That’s my own opinion. I have to think that Mysterio can’t be too pleased about it either, regardless of what he may say publicly. This feud has taken both men to new levels, but I still believe it should only be over the title, and not the mask. I think Jericho will win, which will change Mysterio’s WWE career forever. I wonder if this could be a precursor of things to come for the 619 native. Only time will tell.
WINNER: Chris Jericho
ECW Championship Scramble
Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian vs. Jack Swagger vs. Finlay vs Mark Henry
This match could be the show stealer just from the rules of the contest. What would make this a true ECW title match would be to make it no DQ, but hey, we could dream. Question here is simple, is Dreamer a transitional champion, or is he going to hold the belt for a bit?? This match will likely see Dreamer drop the belt during the combat, but the true test will be whether or not he is holding the belt at the end of the contest. I would believe he will, because I don’t think the four challengers are prepared for a run with the gold, for a myriad of reasons. Too many to count.
WINNER: Tommy Dreamer
World Heavyweight Championship
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
It’s pretty obvious the most significant push of any champion belongs to CM Punk. Some love him, some hate him, but he is getting mixed reactions on the level of John Cena. My personal feeling, I love the guy. He does what he has to do to get on top, and that’s that. I am sure, HONESTLY SURE, if the shoes were on the other foot, Hardy would’ve done the same thing to Punk, and that’s no lie. The world is so much in love with this guy, Jeff Hardy, that when he disappears off the planet for a period of time, which WILL happen, it’s not a matter of if, its a matter of when, a lot of people and fans of the WWE Universe will be significantly disappointed. I doubt highly that Punk loses this match. There’s an awful lot of work being invested in the reign of the World Heavyweight Champion, and Jeff Hardy does not wrangle in to those plans, whether you like it or not.
WINNER: CM Punk
WWE Championship – 3 Stages of Hell
Fall 1 – Wrestling
Fall 2 – Falls Count Anywhere
Fall 3 – Stretcher Match
Randy Orton vs. Triple H
This is going to be fun. A lot of fun. I think that WWE hit a home run with this booking scenario. Obviously, there was going to be a serious need to up the ante after having a last man standing match last week on Raw. This is really one of the few matches that could trump last man standing, no pun intended. WIth this match, you have the inclusion of the McMahons and Legacy a virtual certainty for falls 2 and 3, and this match will go 3 falls, you can bank on that. H has all the experience in this type of match, and that could play a role. This is by far a pick ’em, as I could see both men winning the match. One thing is sure, this match will see the feud between the McMahon family and the Viper get ratcheted up to the next level, if it was at all possible to ratchet this feud any higher than it already is.
WINNER: Triple H
Why? Simple. I believe Triple H and Vince McMahon are seeing Kurt Angle win the world title for a 13th time, and they’re going to do what they have to do to make sure that Helmsley makes it to 16 before Angle. Vince is that anal retentive and that insane. I believe that, to my bones.
Ok. Time to go. My kids and wife are going to Mets/Yankees. How much of a bummah is that that I can’t go? Ah well. I get to check out the replay of the Trumped up Raw, and see how badly this angle with the Donald truly was. Should be fun.
