WWE Raw tour – Sydney ACER Arena 4th July 2009
1) Goldust vs Chavo Guerrero
Big pops for Goldust
Hornswoggle appears for the distraction – Goldust hits the Final Cut for the win.
Chavo attacks Hornswoggle after, who then recieves a beating from Goldust, finished with a Tadpole Splash from Hornswoggle.
2) Sheamus vs Jamie Noble
Sheamus grabs the mic and talks down to the crowd, bags Australia, etc, gets some decent heat.
Picks up the win with some lifting side slam backbreaker.
3) The Brian Kendrick vs Santino
Big pops for Santino. Decent match.
Santino with backslide pin for the 3 count.
4) The Miz vs MVP
Probably most entertaining match of the night for me.
Miz worked the mic and got alot of heat.
Lot of back and forth, The Miz picked up the win with a roll-up.
5) Kofi Kingston vs William Regal for US Title.
Massive crowd pop for Kofi, big heat for Regal.
Good match – Kofi with the Trouble in Paradise for the win.
6) Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes vs Carlito & Primo (tag team match)
Priceless were introduced as ‘Legacy’
Big pops for the Colons, Ted drew alot of heat and played off a bandaged arm injury.
Good tag team action. After a near fall, Ted interfered, met with a backstabber from Carlito, but walked into a Cross Rhodes – Legacy picked up the win.
7) Maryse vs Kelly Kelly for the Divas championship
Nice crowd reaction for Kelly Kelly – few near falls, but Maryse picked up after hitting the DDT.
8) Originally scheduled as Big Show vs John Cena – told from Chimel we would be having a tag team main event.
Big Show & Orton vs Cena & Triple H
Huge pops for Cena, but even bigger for Triple H.
Good action match – the Game chased Orton up the ramp at one stage with a steel chair.
Cena hit the usual flurry of moves – no Attitude Adjuster though.
Back in ring Cena locked in the STF on Show but broken up by Orton.
Triple H ended up hitting the pedigree for the win.
Decent show – my first live event. As it was only a house show – some matches were a bit drawn out, but the crowd was into it, and no-one seemed disappointed at the end.
Cheers.
