According to PWInsider, the District Court of Appeal of the State of Florida, Fifth District has ruled to uphold the conviction of WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Lynn Sytch as it pertains to her November 2023 prison sentence for one count of DUI Manslaughter, one count of causing death while operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, four counts of DUI causing injury to a person, and three counts of DUI causing damage to property.
PWInsider also notes Sytch had filed an appeal to her conviction. However, the court issued a “Per Curiam Affirmed” ruling, which basically means the Court affirmed the ruling of the trial court without writing an opinion. Sytch’s court appointed lawyer withdrew from the case because the attorney had determined Sytch’s attempted appeal was without any arguable merit. The order on December 2, 2024 gives Sytch a chance to file a legal brief if she felt there remained an issue to argue. However, based on court records, that has not happened at the time PWInsider published their update regarding Sytch.
Sytch had initially plead no contest and asked for forgiveness before the court during her sentencing. At the time of her arrest, Sytch had an unsealed bottle of vodka in her vehicle and marijuana in her system when she was arrested back in March 2022 after the fatal DUI crash, which resulted in the death of Julian Lasseter. At the time, Sytch did no have a legal driver’s license and had already previously been arrested several times in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey for previous auto-related incidents.
The report also notes that a civil lawsuit brought by the estate of Julian Lasseter, who was killed in the March 2022 traffic incident is currently set to start on March 25, 2025.
PWInsider further notes that Sytch is scheduled to be released from The Florida Department of Corrections on September 23, 2039. She was sentenced to 17 years plus another 8 years of probation on back on November 28, 2023.
