Puck founder Matthew Belloni in his What I’m Hearing newsletter, is reporting that at some point Vince McMahon attempted to purchase the rights to the new Netflix docuseries ‘Mr. McMahon.’
It was noted that McMahon’s attempt to purchase the docuseries was done in order to scuttle its release. However, Netflix “refused” to sell the docuseries to him.
It was also said that after the attempt to purchase the docuseries by McMahon failed, he later pushed Endeavor head Ari Emanuel to chime in on his behalf, voicing concern about how the docuseries treats his (McMahon’s) alter ego, ‘Mr. McMahon.’
Furthermore, it was noted that Netflix refused to let the project go and that revisions were done after Vince stepped away from WWE the first time and then for the final time after he former WWE employee Janel Grant’s lawsuit.

Fightful Select is reporting those they spoke with about the ‘Mr. McMahon’ docuseries have said not to expect any bombshells.
Fightful also notes that interviews with Vince McMahon were filmed before he “retired” for the first time. WWE believes that disclaimers would be included for many of the interviews that were filmed ahead of Vince’s first retirement, to help those that gave Vince glowing reviews look better in retrospect. However, the report further notes Vince did not provide much new information as it pertains to controversial subjects, even prior to the sexual misconduct allegations.
Fightful Select further notes those that have had eyes on the docuseries say that there were a number of subjects who were “wronged” within wrestling which were interviewed, but that McMahon himself did not elaborate on most, if not all of those issues and the controversial subjects he was prompted to speak on.
Part one of the six-part ‘Mr. McMahon’ docuseries premieres on Netflix this Wednesday, September 25.
