Detroit reportedly not actively bidding for future WrestleMania

The Detroit News has reported that the city is not pursuing WrestleMania in the near future.

The report refutes recent online speculation, citing Detroit radio reports, that the Detroit Sports Commission was actively preparing a bid to bring the event to the city in 2027, which marks the anniversary of WrestleMania 3 (1987) and WrestleMania 23 (2007), which both emanated in the Motor City.

The commission, which rarely acknowledges bids in public, made a statement confirming no such bid was in place, but they “remain enthusiastic about the prospect of hosting future major WWE events.”

The city previously held SummerSlam last August, drawing a reported crowd of 59,194 to Ford Field for a a gate of $8.5 million.
