Fightful Select has reported that WWE is under a “wait and see where it goes” approach to potential working relationships with promotions in Japan, according to a source within the company.
This comes after Charlie Dempsey represented WWE and NXT in All Japan for a big title match, a sign that WWE has been more relaxed in such areas.
Another source states that WWE has kept in touch with some connection to New Japan over time, though it appears to be unlikely that the companies will work together to the extent New Japan has with AEW and TNA/IMPACT.
That said, sources have noted that a new era of management and ownership could lead to things being much different than they were before, given Vince McMahon’s tendency to quickly nix such talks.
