It is Wednesday, my dudes…you know what that means.
We kick off backstage with Renee talking to MJF, who quickly calls Adam Cole to check in before Roderick Strong and The Kingdom interrupt. Roderick offers to help Max with Bullet Club Gold, but the champ pushes Roderick away before addressing Juice Robinson…only to be interrupted again, this time by someone in his Devil mask. We cut away from that to ringside for our opening contest, for the Dynamite Diamond Ring!
Juice Robinson makes his way to the ring first, followed by MJF…who makes a beeline for Juice Robinson as this match gets underway!
Dynamite Diamond Ring Match: MJF defends the ring against vs. Juice Robinson
MJF is on fire here as he goes after Robinson, both in the ring and outside as he sends him into the barricade over and over and finally sending him flying over a table at ringside! The champ grabs a bottle of water as the ref’s count continues, and spits it all over Robinson before sliding into the ring to break the count.
Max goes right back out, rushing at Robinson at the barricade with a big running knee strike as the crowd cheer him on! MJF follows up by dragging Robinson back to ringside, where he sends him on a one-way trip to the ring post with a monkey flip! The champ goes back in the ring to break the ref’s count once again, immediately leaving to continue the attack.
This eventually leads to MJF bringing Robinson to the steel steps, driving his face into the top of the steps as Bullet Club Gold yell at him to bring Robinson back into the ring…which turns out to be a distraction for Robinson to get into this match! Robinson with a DDT sending the champ onto the apron, bringing him back into the ring for a nearfall…and as Bullet Club Gold distracts the ref, Robinson is handed MJF’s scarf to start choking the champ out!
Robinson keeps back on the attack here, eventually going for a cover for a nearfall as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Robinson is finally in control of the match after MJF’s early onslaught, wearing the champ down before clinching in a chinlock for added damage…followed by a standing senton when MJF starts to fight out of the hold. Robinson beats the champ down some more, including a headbutt just as we come back from the break!
Juice tries to use the scarf on MJF once again as Bullet Club Gold intervenes, but this time MJF turns it around on Robinson! The ref catches the champ with the scarf and Max lets go, but dodges a kick from Robinson before mounting up with some punches in the corner!
MJF takes Juice to the canvas before calling for the kangaroo kick…and connects! Robinson goes flying out of the ring as the crowd cheers MJF on for a dive…but BCG trip him up on the rope as Juice takes him down with a thrust kick for a cover…BUT MJF KICKS OUT!
MJF gets back to his feet as both men start trading strikes, with Juice missing a wide left hand allowing MJF to get him by surprise. Juice responds to this with a spit in the face and the Left Hand of God followed by a powerbomb, Max grabbing the ropes on the way down…and Juice ends up getting just a nearfall as a result!
Robinson back on the attack now though, even getting away from a Heat Seeker before MJF ends up diving onto BCG at ringside! Juice goes after the champ, but gets set up against the apron as Max rakes his eyes! Juice back in the ring, and he catches the champ by surprise for a cover…BUT MAX KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Bullet Club Gold try to intervene again, the ref dealing with them as Juice sets up his zirconia ring…but Max gets the same idea and uses HIS ring to hit a knockout punch on Robinson instead! Max clears out BCG before nailing Robinson with the Heat Seeker for the pin and the win!
Winner via pinfall and STILL holder of the Dynamite Diamond Ring: MJF
Bullet Club Gold rush the champ right after the bell rings, attacking him until Roderick Strong and The Kingdom rush down to make the save. They’re cut off by BCG who go back to work on Max until The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn come in to even things out!
BCG rush out of the ring to regroup as Jay White calls out Max from the ramp. He tells MJF not to worry about all these other people wanting a shot at the title, and only on the fact that Jay White will beat him repeatedly to hold onto the Bang Bang Belt. The Gunns cut a promo on the champ, demanding a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship before they’re interrupted by the champ, who accepts their challenge before taking Jay up on his challenge.
Next week, MJF will team with three guys of his choosing to take on Bullet Club Gold and he will get his World Championship back because nobody is on the level of the Devil! Roderick checks in to confirm this means Max is gonna pick them, but Max says that ain’t happening. Caster thinks this mean The Acclaimed are the ones, but MJF refuses his advances as well.
Bowens talks down the champ, saying everybody loves The Acclaimed, and Max wants the champ to, uh…scissor him. MJF shuts that down, leaving the ring to head up the ramp…when Kenny Omega’s music hits, bringing the Best Bout Machine to the stage. He and MJF stare each other down but Omega has a mic, saying that MJF has something Omega wants…but Omega has something MJF wants.
Kenny says MJF is going to hear him out, because he wants to defend his streak…and Max knows exactly what that means, offering a challenge for Omega versus MJF for the AEW World Championship this Saturday at Collision!
They shake hands before giving their catchphrases…and Omega calls MJF one more time, regarding their match in three days.
-Commercial Break-
Video Package: Wardlow addresses being at home for four months and watching a man who’s done so much evil become the face of the company, before promising to take everything from MJF!
Back at ringside, John Silver and Alex Reynolds are in the ring as Hook makes his way to the ring, followed by Rob Van Dam to a big ovation from the Philly crowd before this match gets underway!
Rob Van Dam and HOOK vs. John Silver and Alex Reynolds
Hook quickly gets the upper hand on Silver on the exchange of holds before tagging RVD in, but Silver escapes to the ropes before he and Reynolds double-team RVD. Silver goes back on the attack until he’s sent away from RVD, who makes the tag to Hook to clear Dark Order out of the ring as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: The action starts to slow down here, with Dark Order trying to get back into it as tags are exchanged between RVD and Hook…who gets attacked by Silver, but manages to fend off Reynolds and Uno at ringside, before getting blindsided by Silver. Tag made to Reynolds now, but Hook fights him off as best he can until a tag leads to a Silver powerbomb for a nearfall, allowing John to stay in this as we come back from break!
This doesn’t last long as Hook hits a gutwrench powerbomb, and tags in RVD! Van Dam with some hard kicks and a leg drop on Silver as Reynolds rushes in, only for RVD to drive him away before hitting the Rolling Thunder on Silver…but Reynolds breaks the pin!
RVD tags in, going for a cover but it gets stopped once again…only for RVD to get the tag to Hook once again, and he goes off on Silver looking for Redrum until Reynolds rushes in to stop it! The ref deals with Reynolds as Uno runs in with a steel chair…only to get hit with a Van Daminator by RVD! RVD goes up top with a Five Star Frog Splash on Reynolds, and Hook locks in Redrum on Silver for the submission victory!
Winners via submission: Rob Van Dam and HOOK
Backstage, RJ City introduces “Timeless” Toni Storm who calls to roll the picture as we go to, well, picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Listen, these little films are best seen to be believed, BUT I can spend this time to say that we get some hints of something big for Storm on November 18th…and with that, we go to commercial. Thanks, TBS!
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Tony Schiavone is in the ring with STIIIING after last week’s big announcement. Sting thanks the crowd in Philly for everything, and thanks Darby Allin for all his help since he came to AEW. Sting then thanks Tony Khan for giving him the chance to go on one more run and end things on his own terms before handing the microphone to Tony Schiavone.
Tony thanks Sting for everything he’s done over the years, mentioning what he’s done over 35 years ago on TBS, before saying they’re bringing out the special gift for Sting now…and by gum, it’s Ric Flair!
The Man himself walks down that ramp toward the ring to a big ovation from the crowd, and Sting can barely contain his emotion at seeing a man who helped put him on the map all those years ago. The two embrace before Flair hugs Schiavone as well, to a chant from the crowd as Tony welcomes Ric Flair to AEW.
Flair says there are moments in this business that are magical, before talking about the first-ever Clash of the Champions on TBS 35 years ago and giving Sting his props for giving it his all and staying strong over the years. When Flair said he got the invitation to be in AEW, he was excited for the prospect of riding the wave with the Stinger for however long it lasts.
Out to kill all the joy of the moment is Christian Cage, as he alongside Luchasaurus and Nicholas Wayne head to the stage. Cage runs down the “gift” Tony Khan gave Sting before running down the Nature Boy himself with, uh, some remarks I’m not comfortable sharing in this recap. Cage gets to the real reason he’s out here, because Sting and Darby stuck their noses in his business.
He says Darby must feel sour grapes about losing at WrestleDream, but he’s willing to give Darby another chance in Philly, a chance that these fans will not have, to see what it looks like to be a champion. Cage addresses Sting next, saying he doesn’t want to wait until Revolution for the Icon to be gone…he wants him gone now, and offers a trios match between the three of them and Sting, Darby, and a partner of their choosing at Full Gear.
Sting mocks Christian before saying he and Darby accept the challenge!
Backstage, Renee talks to Chris Jericho about what happened against Powerhouse Hobbs, and Jericho says he’s been reflecting on whether he has what it takes to beat a Will Hobbs. The Family is big, but Jericho has a lot of friends…and some of them are bigger than Hobbs, and it may be time to make a call to one of them.
Back at ringside, The Hardys and Brother Zay make their way to the ring for our next contest. Out next are the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions as Hangman Page and The Young Bucks head to the ring, and this match gets underway!
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship Match: Hangman Adam Page and The Young Bucks defend against The Hardys and Brother Zay
We start off with Zay and Nick Jackson as they show off their agility before Nick hits a hip toss on Zay. Nick still on the attack before clearing the Hardys off the apron. Tag made to Page who goes off on Zay, before he makes the tag to Matt Hardy. Matt escapes to the ropes to evade an attack by Page, who tags in Matt…oh no. Hardy goes after arm of Jackson and then the hair, but Jackson fights back until Zay tags in, and the match is firmly in control of the Hardy Party as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Matt Hardy is in now as he goes on the assault before tagging in Jeff, who unleashes a flurry of offense before tags are exchanged again, with Matt Hardy getting in as we come back from break.
Zay gets involved as well but both men are taken down with a stereo Northern Lights suplex by Matt Jackson, before Page gets tagged in and cleans house before getting a cover on Zay for the nearfall. Page continues the attack and looks for a Dead Eye, but Jeff Hardy gets involved and Zay hits Silly String for a nearfall of his own on Page!
Tag made as the Bucks get in the ring, but Zay fights them off before sending them to the outside! Zay hits a big dive on Nick and Page outside as the Hardys double-team Matt, and Jeff hits a Swanton Bomb for the cover…but Nick Jackson breaks it up!
Matt tags in now as he stops an attack by the Bucks, and Zay knocks down Matt…only for Page to hit a Buckshot Lariat on Zay! They clear off the Hardys before hitting a BTE Trigger, and we see them get the pin and the win to retain!
Winners via pinfall and still ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions: Hangman Adam Page and The Young Bucks
The celebration is cut short as the screen lights up with Swerve and Nana at the home of Hangman, invading as Page rushes up the ramp out of anger. Swerve makes fun of things he sees as he sits himself down on the couch, reading a children’s book. Swerve hears a noise and rushes up the stairs, where he…arrives at the room of Page’s child.
Swerve talks about how those Page loves could be impacted by Hangman’s actions and decisions, before ultimately leaving a shirt in the crib as a reminder to Page before Nana says it’s time to go…and with that, we cut to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
Backstage, Renee talks to Adam Copeland about what we saw earlier tonight, before Sting and Darby interrupt as Sting tells Copeland to “get the blinders off” in regards to his friendship with Cage. The Icon tells him to “figure it out” before walking off, as we go back to ringside for our next match!
Out first is the challenger as Ruby Soho heads to the ring, followed by the champion as Hikaru Shida heads down before this match gets underway!
AEW Women’s World Title Match: Hikaru Shida (c) defends against Ruby Soho
Both women lock up as Shida gets the advantage, but Soho turns it around real quick with some strikes. Soho gets countered by Shida, but the backslide is no good for the champ as Ruby fights her off. Shida back on the offense as she takes Soho to the canvas, but Ruby heads to the corner and evades another attack from the champ before dropping Shida for a nearfall! This leads to both women getting nearfalls on each other before it comes to an end.
Ruby in the corner once again as Shida mounts up for some punches before hitting a missile dropkick on the challenger, who escapes the ring and catches Shida on the outside with No Future as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Soho brings the champ back into the ring for more damage, wearing Shida down with strikes until Shida starts to fight back. This ends up being for naught however, as Soho keeps the champ at bay before attacking her on the ropes…but Shida catches her by surprise, hitting the ropes for a knee strike that takes the challenger down as we come back from break!
Both women finally get back on their feet for an exchange of strikes before Shida gest Soho up on her shoulders in the end, a torture rack shades of Lex Luger before dropping Soho to the canvas for the cover…BUT RUBY KICKS OUT!
Ruby gets to her feet as Shida climbs the turnbuckle, launching off…and into a kick by Soho that gives her a nearfall! Ruby goes to the corner to remove a turnbuckle pad before using the spray in the air to catch the ref’s attention, pretending Shida sprayed her in the face! As the ref admonishes Shida, Ruby goes to ringside for the title and tries to use it on Shida…who ends up spraying the title with paint!
The ref removes the title from the picture as Ruby chokes the champ out before hitting Destination Unknown, but only gets a nearfall! Things take a turn as the champ gets a nearfall of her own, and hits a Falcon Arrow! Cover by Shida gets reversed, but Soho is sent into the turnbuckle before the champ hits a Kitana for the pin and the win!
Winner via pinfall and still AEW Women’s World Champion: Hikaru Shida
Shida doesn’t get long to celebrate before Toni Storm’s music hits, signaling the arrival of the Timeless one as we get confirmation that Storm gets a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at Full Gear!
Backstage, Renee speaks to MJF about the match at Collision before Samoa Joe cuts in, offering to be MJF’s friend when the time comes…on the condition that he gets his rematch for the AEW World Championship.
-Commercial Break-
Back at ringside, Orange Cassidy makes his way to the ring for our Dynamite main event! Out next is the Rainmaker as Kazuchika Okada heads to the ring to make his Dynamite debut in Phily, who absolutely love seeing the man…but are equally excited for the arrival of Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli, as the BCC make their way to the ring before this main event gets underway!
Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada
A staredown between all four men ends with Cassidy opening the ropes saying he can handle the Dragon, giving us Cassidy and Danielson to start…and Bryan stops OC putting hands in pockets with a barrage of strikes! Danielson focuses on the previously injured arm of Cassidy, wearing the International Champion down before bringing him to the corner for a tag to Claudio.
Claudio keeps on the attack wearing down Cassidy, before calling out Okada…who gets the tag from Cassidy! Both men lock up before they get to the ropes, where Okada turns it around and steps back. Claudio rushes at Okada, who avoids him and goes after Danielson who drops to the floor.
Uppercut exchange now between Okada and Claudio, and it ends with a body slam by the Rainmaker before Cassidy tags in for a nonchalant splash for a nearfall! Claudio back on his feet, sending Orange to the corner and showing off his power by hoisting up the champ before dropping him on the top rope! Tag to Danielson who goes off on Cassidy for a nearfall as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: BCC firmly in control here as Danielson wears the champ down some more before tagging Claudio back in for even more damage. Claudio keeps wearing down Cassidy who reaches out for a tag, only to be taken down before Danielson tags back in. Bryan goes after the legs of Cassidy now, before driving his knee into the rib of the champ and follows with a tag to Claudio, who hits a hard elbow drop for a nearfall as we come back from break!
Cassidy eventually fights back Claudio enough to send him out of the ring…but Castagnoli is back in to stop him from tagging in Okada! Cassidy tries to reverse things in his favor but Claudio lifts him up…only for OC to hit the DDT on him!
Claudio eventually gets a tag to Danielson…and Orange tags in Okada! The two men stare each other down, remembering what they went through at Forbidden Door before they trade strikes. This ends with Okada hitting the ropes, evading a clothesline before hitting a dropkick!
DDT on Danielson by Okada, but Bryan kicks out of the pin attempt! Okada heads to the top turnbuckle but is fended off by Danielson, only for Okada to drop him down hard for another nearfall! Danielson back on his feet now, driving down the Rainmaker with a series of kicks before getting a nearfall…and changes it to a LeBelle Lock! Okada rolls out but is caught on his shoulders for a nearfall, before Okada reverses for one of his own!
Both men on their feet, but only for a moment until they take each other down with a double cross body! Danielson finally makes it to his feet to tag in Claudio as Cassidy tags himself in. The champ starts off with some light kicks on Castagnoli but quickly lays them in hard, only for Claudio to stop him! Series of counters now leads to Cassidy hitting Stundog Millionaire followed by a DDT for a nearfall, before Bryan breaks it up!
Danielson gets sent out of the ring as Orange looks for his Punch…but is caught into a Giant Swing by Claudio! Round and round the champ goes, until Claudio puts him down for a Scorpion Deathlock! Okada rushes in with a boot to break the hold, but Claudio doesn’t let up easily! Claudio gets dropped before the Rainmaker goes up top for an elbow drop, followed by the Rainmaker pose for the wide shot…which Cassidy interrupts for a hug, to give the people what they truly want!
Chaos ensues courtesy of BCC and, uh, CHAOS as all four men go at each other, with Okada hitting Danielson with a Rainmaker after an Orange Punch by Cassidy! Cassidy goes after Claudio but is driven down hard for the pin and the win!
Winners via pinfall: Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli
There is no celebration for BCC here as medics check on Danielson, leading to Best Friends and Yuta all arriving to the ring to stare each other down in light of their recent issues. The show comes to a close on a weird note as we see Danielson still being checked on before we fade to black.
