It is Wednesday, my dudes…you know what that means.
Pryo kicks off another exciting edition of AEW Dynamite before the former AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy makes his way to the ring, days removed from losing the title to Jon Moxley at All Out. The former champ looks beat up as all get out, but still calm and collected as he enters the ring with a microphone to the chants of “Freshly Squeezed” from the crowd.
This turns to “Thank you, Orange” chants as the champ seems too stunned to speak before saying…”hey.” Orange follows by thanking the fans, and saying “they” told him to stay home…but he said “nah, I’m not gonna do that.” Championship or no championship, he will be here every single week, because he is “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy…and he does not have a catchphrase.
Cassidy sets the microphone down before leaving the ring, heading up the ramp when suddenly “Wild Thing” plays to signal the arrival of the NEW International Champion for our opening contest. We get a split screen of the replay from All Out, Jon Moxley heading to ringside, and Orange Cassidy still on the ramp staring the new champ down.
Cassidy finally heads toward the stage as AR Fox makes his way out next, ready to challenge Mox for the title as this match gets underway!
AEW International Championship Match: Jon Moxley defends against AR Fox
Fox charges at Mox to get the early advantage, but the champ lays into him with some heavy hands before sending him back to the corner and going after the face. Mox sent to the corner now as Fox hits a forearm, followed by a springboard dropkick that sends Mox out of the ring!
Mox walks around at ringside and pays for it thanks to a big dive from Fox, who brings the champ back to the ring…and Mox fights right back, before dropping Fox down hard to the canvas. We see Darby Allin and Nick Wayne watching on backstage as Mox goes after the back of Fox, who fights out of a suplex on the apron before hitting the champ with a DDT from the second rope for a nearfall!
Mox escapes the ring, where Fox finds himself in a bit of trouble as Mox sends him into the barricade…and the OVER the barricade, as we go to picture-in-picture…unless you’re cursed like I am, because my feed goes to a commercial break.
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Mox starts losing control of the match thanks to a kick from Fox, who starts fighting back with some further kicks and a neckbreaker! Fox sends the champ to the corner, rolling through with a cutter that gets him another nearfall before Mox rolls out of the ring. Fox meets him on the apron with a big moonsault off the ring post, catching the champ’s shoulder in the process! 450 splash by the challenger, but Mox kicks out!
The champ catches Fox by surprise as he rolls into a kimura, before laying in some hammer elbows…and a King Kong lariat! Death Rider follow-up gives Mox the pin and the win in his first title defense!
Winner via pinfall and still AEW International Champion: Jon Moxley
Mox and Claudio leave through the crowd as Darby checks in on Fox, raising his arm as a show of appreciation…before we see Nick Wayne still backstage, confronted by Christian Cage and Luchasaurus. Cage runs down Nick’s father before offering to be a “true mentor” to Wayne, before he and the TNT Champion walk off.
Back at ringside, Kris Statlander heads to the ring as she is set to defend the TBS Championship in an open challenge up next!
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Statlander’s challenger arrives as Emi Sakura heads to the ring, making a beeline for it as this match gets underway!
TBS Championship Open Challenge: Kris Statlander defends against Emi Sakura
Emi catches the champion by surprise early on with some roll up attempts that garner nearfall, before Statlander heads to the apron…before Sakura knocks her off with a cross body! On the outside, Emi continues the attack by driving Kris into the steel steps before bringing the champ back into the ring, but only gets a nearfall.
Statlander tries to fight back with chops, but Emi has some of her own as they trade strikes…and Emi hits an elbow strike and a lariat! Statlander back up as they run into each other with lariats…and they both end up dropping to the canvas from the impact! Statlander heads to the apron as Sakura gets to her feet…only for the champ to knock her down before hitting a springboard elbow drop!
Sakura dodges a discus lariat and ends up hitting a reverse DDT! Sakura has the champ up and hits a backbreaker…BUT KRIS KICKS OUT!
Sakura climbs the turnbuckle, but is intercepted with a facebuster by the champ…who follows with the discus lariat and the Wednesday Night Fever for the pin and the win to retain!

Video Package: Roderick Strong alongside The Kingdom talks about the business and how much he wants to win this World Title Eliminator tournament!
Back at ringside, Don Callis heads to commentary to watch our next match before Le Sex Gods head to the ring, eager to prove themselves as a tag team against the former ROH World Tag Team Champions. Speaking of, Aussie Open make their way to the ring next, and soon this match gets underway!
Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)
We start off with Jericho and Davis circling the mat before they lock up, with Davis taking Jericho to the corner…before taking a thumb to the eye and a couple chops by the Ocho! This doesn’t faze Davis for long as he sends Jericho back to the corner, but Jericho catches him with a forearm and a right hand before tagging in Guevara!
Le Sex Gods take Davis down with a double shoulder tackle before posing for the crowd. Davis doesn’t take well to this however, driving Guevara’s face into the top rope before tagging in Fletcher who drops Sammy with a scoop slam. Sammy back to his feet as they trade strikes, with Sammy ending things with a dropkick down low on Fletcher!
Crowd chanting for Sammy as the tag is made to Jericho, before they take Fletcher down with a delayed vertical suplex double-team. The crowd pop big time for this as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Jericho finds himself in control of the match as he mounts up on Fletcher with some punches before finally taking him down to the canvas. Tag made to Guevara as they keep Fletcher from making a tag, and Guevara puts a boot on Fletcher’s chest for a cocky cover and a nearfall. Sammy ends up leaving the ring and gets taken down by Davis as a result as Fletcher gets back to his feet, while Davis sends Guevara back into the ring. Fletcher goes after Guevara here, sending him to the corner before tagging in Davis as they wear down Guevara. Davis driving his knees into Guevara for the cover and a nearfall, but Guevara rocks Davis to fight back before Fletcher intervenes as we come back from break!
Guevara avoids the attack of Aussie Open to get a tag to Jericho, who sends Fletcher out but is sent to the apron by Davis. Jericho looking for an ax handle off the turnbuckle but is stopped by Aussie Open…but Davis gets taken out with a cutte by Guevara as Fletcher hits a forearm on Jericho!
Jericho catches Fletcher by surprise with a Codebreaker and the cover…BUT FLETCHER KICKS OUT! Jericho with a chop to Fletcher before sending him to the ropes, and to the outside where Davis tries to help…only for both men to fall victim to a big dive by Guevara! Jericho looks for a dive of his own, but Aussie Open send Guevara in his path instead!
Aussie Open pick up Le Sex Gods, driving their backs together on the outside before sending Jericho back in. Aussie Arrow gets Davis a chance to cover…BUT JERICHO KICKS OUT!
Davis and Fletcher look to go on the attack once more but Davis runs into a Spanish Fly by Guevara, and Fletcher gets caught into a Walls of Jericho…before fighting out, and hitting the Ocho with a thrust kick! Fletcher with a brainbuster and the cover…BUT JERICHO KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Fletcher is frustrated as he lays in some punches on Jericho. Jericho starts to fight back, but accidentally knocks Guevara off the apron! Fletcher rolls him up, but is sent off before Jericho hits the Judas Effect for the pin and the win!
Winners via pinfall: Le Sex Gods
The arms of Le Sex Gods are raised in victory but Guevara throws his arm down after the couple of mishaps during the match. This leads to a shoving contest between Guevara and Jericho before staff rush to the ring to break things up. Guevara ends up rushing out of the ring, leaving through the crowd as Jericho reluctantly continues to take in the victory.
Video Package: Ricky Starks may have lost to Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out, but he did not give up…and he never will!
We also look back at All Out and what happened between Samoa Joe and MJF, who looks to speak his mind up next!

Backstage is Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita with Renee, alongside a hidden easel as Callis hypes Takeshita as “the new big dog” before promising to unveil the next target for Takeshita next week on Dynamite!
Back at ringside, the AEW World Champion MJF heads to the ring to speak his mind. Max gets to the ring with mic in hand, calling for his music to be cut as the crowd chants his name. Indianapolis, the Devil has arrived in Hoosier Country! When MJF was trying to make a name for himself on the independent circuit, he lived right in Indiana so…Hoosier daddy?
The crowd lets the champ know, much to his delight as he addresses All Out, where he and his brochacho Adam Cole defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship. He found out in the back from “that mark Tony Khan” that he has to compete again on September 20, but at least it is Grand Slam from New York…so gear up, because nobody is on the level of the Devil.
There’s one person in particular who needs to be taught a lesson, to chants of “Joe” from the crowd…but before the champ can continue, Samoa Joe makes his way out to the ring. Joe heads right down the ramp, getting a mic of his own before speaking up. Pardon the interruption, champ, but Joe heard some piss and vinegar just now so now…Joe’s out here, Max is out here, so what seems to be the problem, kid?
Max doesn’t take well to this, but is interrupted with a chant of “Joe’s gonna kill you” before continuing. He says he can understand Joe being confused, perhaps mixing up MJF’s music with an ice cream truck. Joe says that’s good, but the last time he had anything to do with ice cream it was as a star on another company’s network. So again, what’s the problem…kid?
MJF still doesn’t take well to this, but says he can be creative too. Who wants to hear MJF get creative up in here? Hey everybody, it’s Pillsbury Joeboy…no wait, that’s Samoa Dough. Max follows up with something a little harder to repeat on this recap, something Joe retorts to before saying Max’s time with all these “mouth breathers” made him stupid. So one more time…what’s the problem, kid?
Max yells that if Joe calls him kid one more time he’ll knock his teeth down his throat. MJF quickly stops himself, realizing that’s the reaction Joe wants so he can cut the line…but there’s a whole tournament he can wrestle in. The crowd chants an F bomb at Joe, who tells them they’re starting to sound like their mothers so calm down.
MJF offers up a story time for the crowd to get things back on track, bringing up a tryout he had with WWE that he knocked out of the park. He then gets pulled aside by a certain individual named William Regal, who said Max was “too young” before ultimately blowing Max off…and we all know how that story ended, with Max knocking Regal out and sending him packing to NXT where he belongs. If Joe plays his cards right, he’s next.
Max then talks about the time he was set as a security guard, where he’d meet the great Samoa Joe…but Joe decided to take a 19 year old kid, shoved him into a brick wall, and laughed. Let’s be honest Joe, we know why you did that, because we know how scumbags think, and Max knows because he’s the fans’ scumbag. Joe did it because Max was a kid, and because he could get away with it…but Max is not a kid anymore, he is full grown, a generational talent, and the AEW World Champion! He is MJF, and he is better than you and you know it!
Joe says that’s a point well made before running the champ down…and Max responds with a slap to the face of the ROH World TV Champion. Joe sees that for what it is however, promising to run through that tournament and taking that title from MJF. Until then…have a nice day. Max starts to leave through the ropes but is blindsided by Joe, who lays into him with kicks before standing up with the AEW World Championship…only for MJF to hit a low blow!
MJF sends Joe to the corner with some stomps, pulling his shirt off to go after him some more but Joe catches him by surprise, doing more damage before Adam Cole runs down to make the save! Medical personnel run down to check on the champ as we hear Joe yelling “what’s wrong kid, you don’t look so good” from the stage. Staff check on MJF who asks if it’s worse than Sunday, saying his left arm’s numb as staff help him out of the ring.
Joe grabs a mic to run Max down some more, saying he can’t promise he won’t tear through him the next time the champ stands in front of him before finally heading to the back. Staff continue to walk up the ramp with Max as Cole follows, only for Roderick to yell at Cole about caring about MJF’s neck more than his own. Strong and The Kingdom head down the ramp to the ring as he gears up for his World Title Eliminator Tournament qualifier against Trent Beretta, and that is up next!
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Trent makes his way to the ring for the first World Title Eliminator qualifier and this match gets underway!
Grand Slam World Title Eliminator: Roderick Strong vs. Trent Beretta
Strong rushes Beretta to the corner, taking him down as he goes for a side headlock…but Trent takes him back down to the canvas! Strong goes on the attack before backing off, telling the ref to tell Trent to lay off his neck. Strong sends Trent back to the corner now, before looking for a Stronghold but Trent fights out of it…only for Strong to get a front facelock. Trent fights to his feet but is taken down by a shoulder tackle by Strong, only to hit a standing knee strike on Roderick!
Strong is quick to fight back now, hitting a big backbreaker on Beretta…but the Best Friend tights back with a back suplex. Trent with an elbow strike and a DDT off the ropes, sending Roderick to the outside as The Kingdom checks on him. The ref also checks in as Trent tries to get involved, but is sent back…and then into the ring post by Strong, who hits a side suplex onto the apron as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: Strong is in control of the match now as he hits a half-nelson backbreaker for a nearfall, followed by a modified armbar as he wears down Beretta. Strong continues the attack as he drives Trent into the ropes before bringing him back to his feet for a chop. Strong with some boots to Beretta before mocking the crowd. Strong goes right back on him for a nearfall, before locking in a modified chinlock as we come back from break!
The fight starts to be in Trent’s favor now as he fights out of another backbreaker, looking for–and hitting–a German suplex on Strong, who goes for the ropes to break things up. Strong gets caught with a twisting Death Valley Driver as Trent goes for the cover…BUT STRONG KICKS OUT!
Trent looks for a piledriver, but is taken down with a backbreaker and a Sick Kick by Roderick…BUT TRENT KICKS OUT! Strong sets him up on the turnbuckle now, looking for a big superplex of some sort…but Trent intercepts, only to take a slap on the back before Strong has him on the shoulders. Trent fights out again, hitting a hurricanrana…but Roderick rolls through for a Stronghold, only for Trent to get him on his shoulders for a nearfall to break the hold!
Trent drops Strong again, and hits a piledriver for the cover…BUT STRONG HAS A BOOT ON THE ROPE! Bennett cheers Strong on as Beretta goes after him, but Strong fights it off before hitting a jumping knee strike and the End of Heartache for the pin and the win to advance!

The Kingdom are quick to help Strong put his neck brace back on as they leave the ring and head up the ramp, after a graphic reminds us that he will face the winner of tonight’s main event (Darby Allin vs. Nick Wayne) this Saturday on Collision.
Backstage, Renee talks to Toni Storm about what happened at All Out, something that Storm can’t seem to remember happening before addressing the situation leading to the Women’s World Championship being defended at Grand Slam. Storm simply says we might get a sneak peek of what she wants to present next week, but until then…watch for the shoe. Renee did NOT watch for the shoe, which gets sent flying her way after Storm walks off!
Back at ringside, Hangman Page is coming to the ring to speak his mind and that is up next!
-Commercial Break-
Back from break, Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Page to address the Over-Budget Charity Battle Royal that the Hangman won. Page talked about getting the call and helping a good cause out with the winnings. Page starts to address his future when Swerve’s music hits, bringing out Prince Nana…and Swerve Strickland, a little over a week after what went down at All In.
Nana is dancing like a fool but Swerve is all business as the pair head down the ramp, before they enter the ring. Nana takes the mic from Tony before hyping up Swerve, who talks about getting clarity after being in a coffin for as long as he was. He got to thinking, and the first person he thought of was Page, talking about Page’s history in AEW including his run as World Champion.
He then talks about All In and the attendance record…as opposed to being on the preshow last Sunday, and how he hasn’t had new merch in over a year, and runs down all the things Page has been doing as of late before saying Page can ride off into the sunset…and let Swerve take that spot he doesn’t want.
The other option is Page can do whatever he needs to so he can prove he’s still who he once was. We can fight for that spot, but fair warning…Sweve has zero empathy, and will walk Page like a dog. Either way, Swerve is coming for that spot that Page acts like he doesn’t want.
Page tells Swerve if he wants a match he can go to the back and ask for it, but he is done with this right now. Page walks up the ramp until Swerve talks about his wife and kid which riles Page up…only for the Hangman to get blindsided by Brian Cage! Cage lays him out before Mogul Embassy leave the ring, heading up the ramp to see their handiwork.
We get a rundown of the week to come, including World Title Eliminator tournament matches, a four-way match to determine the next contender for the Women’s World Championship, and much more!
Back at ringside, we are gearing up for our main event as Darby Allin comes out to the ring first in this World Title Eliminator qualifier! Out next is Nick Wayne, looking to make an impression in one of his biggest matches yet in AEW before our main event gets underway!
Grand Slam World Title Eliminator: Darby Allin vs. Nick Wayne
Show of respect between Darby and Nick before they lock up, leading to an exchange of holds and nearfalls to show how quickly paced things can get between them. It all ends up with Nick Wayne getting a waistlock but sent to the outside…only to evade a Darby Allin dive, sending Darby crashing against the barricade as we go to picture-in-picture!
Picture-in-Picture: The action has very much slowed DOWN here as we get a replay of what happened, before medical staff come running down to check on Darby. Darby is finally back on his feet, instinctually going into the ring to break a count before rolling back out…but again, Darby ends up back in the ring as Nick hypes the crowd up. We finally get to another lock up where Darby rolls through a headlock, but Nick sends him into the corner for more damage. Darby fights him off as he climbs up the turnbuckle, but is intercepted by Nick as we come back!
Nick Wayne hits a big superplex and follows with a fisherman buster…BUT DARBY KICKS OUT! Darby struggling as Nick goes for a frog splash off the top…but Darby gets him with the knees up! Darby crawls to the corner as Nick stands up, only to be sent flying to the corner with a Darby dropkick for a cover and a nearfall. Darby takes him back to the corner for a chop before Nick walks it off…only for Darby to hit him again!
The fight continues until both men are down, but bump knuckles on the way back to their feet before trading strikes. Darby tries to rile Nick up some by calling him out on the microphone, which leads to Nick hitting even harder…until Christian Cage and Luchasaurus arrive on stage! They walk toward commentary as we go to picture-in-picture once more.
Picture-in-Picture: With Christian Cage and Luchasaurus not at ringside, we focus on the continued battle between Darby and Nick. This leads to Nick getting a nearfall, which gets reversed and we’re left with both men down. Darby heads to the ropes to help himself up as Nick checks on him before we come back!
It’s a battle on the apron now that Nick wins with a hurricanrana on Darby, sending him to the floor below! Backstage we see Roderick Strong and The Kingdom before Nick climbs up the top for a big Frog Splash onto Darby on the floor! Nick sends Darby back into the ring now, hitting Wayne’s World for a cover…BUT DARBY KICKS OUT!
Nick heads back to the cover as Darby gets back up, only to be set up on the turnbuckle by Wayne…only for Darby to send him crashing to the canvas! Darby sets up for a Coffin Drop, but not sure on it before covering…ONLY FOR NICK WAYNE TO KICK OUT!
Darby brings Nick back up only to be caught in a submission hold by Nick…only for Darby to escape and block a Wayne’s World for a nearfall. Another tradeoff of nearfalls here into a Code Red for one more…and now Darby’s got Nick locked in as he stomps at him! Wayne can’t respond and the ref calls for the bell!

Christian on commentary raises the question of what happens if Darby can’t make it to the next match before heading to the stage to mockingly applaud Darby, who has no chance to celebrate this win as the show comes to a close.
