WWE reportedly requests new date for their hearing in ongoing MLW lawsuit

According to an updated report from PWInsider, regarding the lawsuit filed by MLW against WWE, the legal counsel for WWE filed a motion on Friday, June 2 requesting their impending hearing for the lawsuit filed against them by Major League Wrestling be pushed back from Thursday, June 15 to Thursday, July 20. This of course, will be up to the judge.

Fightful notes WWE is said to have justified their request by citing the unavailability of their legal team on the originally scheduled date. It was further stated by Fightful even though both parties have reportedly reached an agreement on the new date, it is up to the court’s approval, as stated by PWInsider.

MLW CEO Court Bauer appeared on last Thursday’s Business of the Business podcast, stating that the judge told him that he his needs to “beef up some aspects” of his case. Bauer went on say he felt that “was an encouraging sign.” Bauer closed by saying that if MLW moves forward, he is sharpening his fork and knife for discovery.

MLW’s amended lawsuit alleges WWE has violated Sherman Antitrust act as the U.S. market for pro wrestling media content, whereas the original lawsuit focused specifically on the pro wrestling market itself. MLW is arguing via an analysis that shows WWE currently controls 92% of the revenue from this market, while AEW has 6% and leaving just 2% of the revenue for everyone else in the pro wrestling industry.
