Former WWE and WCW star says betting in WWE would “Destroy The Creative Process”

Former WWE and WCW star Lance Storm recently took to Twitter to comment on the potential of betting being allowed for high-profile matches within WWE. The legalized betting would occur in the states of Michigan and Indiana.

A report last Wednesday from CNBC stated WWE met with regulators in Colorado and Michigan regarding gambling for legalizing betting on high-profile matches. Then on Thursday, CNBC updated their report to confirm WWE had registered with the Indiana Gaming Commission for the legalization of betting on matches.

Colorado was considered, however the CNBC report noted that the state is not considering legalizing betting on WWE’s high-profile matches, due to the state of Colorado’s statute that prohibits gambling on pre-determined contests such as awards shows.

The reports further noted that match results would be “locked in” months ahead of time and prevented from leaking to the public. The WWE Superstars involved would not be informed of a match’s result until shortly before it takes place.

If the Michigan Gaming Control Board approves legalizing betting on WWE matches that information will be made public through the organization’s Sports Wagering Catalog

WWE has hired the accounting firm, Ernest & Young pertaining to securing match results and demonstrating to regulators that gambling on predetermined contests can be done safely. Ernest & Young already works to secure results for pre-determined contests such as the Academy Awards.
