Little Caesars Arena, site of WWE SmackDown evacuated due to ammonia leak, the leak was contained

According to a report on Thursday evening from the Detroit News, Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit was evacuated after an ammonia leak in the building, per city officials.

No events were scheduled at the venue on Thursday. WWE SmackDown is still scheduled to take place Friday night, according to the Little Caesar’s Arena website.

The report notes that the incident was reported in the venue’s basement around 3:15 pm local time, according to James Harris, the Detroit Fire Department’s Chief of Community Relations and Public Information Officer.

Furthermore, it was also said Firefighters, a Hazmat specialist and medics responded to the scene. Two men believed to be in their 20’s who had been near the leak suffered chemical burns. Both were transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital with minor injuries.

The Detroit News report concluded by saying that other details, including what caused the leak, were not released and that arena representatives did not immediately respond back to a request for comment.

As of this writing, per Ticketmaster there are several hundreds of seats still available for Friday night’s show.
