Wrestleview is sad to report that ROH star Jay Briscoe (real name Jamin Pugh) passed away at age 38 on Tuesday due to a motor vehicle accident.
According to WMDT ABC 47, the Delaware State Police stated the incident occurred in the area of Laurel Road and Little Hill Road around 5:30 pm local time and caused an extended road closure. There are not further details of this writing.
AEW CEO and President and ROH owner Tony Khan made the announcement on Twitter, which is below:
Jay and his brother Mark are Ring of Honor Hall of Famers, and are 13-time ROH World Tag Team Championships. They have been part of ROH since the company first began in 2002. The Briscoes are also former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions. Jay is also a former two-time ROH World Champion and ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
Per PWInsider, Jay was a tremendously family-oriented person with several daughters and a wife. Even though he and Mark made really great money working for Ring of Honor and Tony Khan, both men never stopped working on their family farm. They both even did landscaping to earn extra money for their families.
Wrestleview sends it condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and fans of Jay Brisco during this difficult and sad time.
