AEW Dynamite Results
June 22, 2022
Milwaukee, WI (UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena)
Report by: Josh Boutwell

Bryan Danielson opens Dynamite up coming to the ring for an interview with Tony Schiavone. Danielson says this is a great week to be an AEW fan and to be a wrestling fan. He talks about Forbidden Door and says that AEW and NJPW are the two best professional wrestling companies in the world. He talks about Blood and Guts and calls it “nearly the complete opposite” of the pure wrestling we will see on Sunday. Danielson says he was expecting to be a part of both of those events and talks about Zack Sabre Jr. challenging him to a match for Forbidden Door.

Danielson says he was excited about proving who the greatest technical wrestler was and he was excited about getting the chance to get some revenge on JAS but he has some good news and bad news. He says that he has not been cleared to compete in either event but says that his overall health is fine and he WILL come back. He says there isn’t a man in this world that can wrestle in that ring like him and he will be back to prove it. Danielson says that Eddie Kingston has gone on record calling him a judgmental prick and he’s right.

Danielson says he has really high standards, so when he promises that something will be amazing he means it. He says that he found the one person worthy of taking his place at Forbidden Door and in Blood and Guts. He says he isn’t telling us who that person is and he isn’t telling Zack Sabre Jr. either. Zack Sabre Jr. walks out and talks shit to Danielson as the fans went completely silent.

(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Forbidden Door has been snake pit from the very beginning from Punk’s injury to the apparent lack of interest of Okada to Danielson’s injury now. It’s extremely unfortunate, especially because it takes him out of Blood and Guts, too, but getting Danielson back healthy is what really matters. Announcing his replacement will be a surprise did not go over well and it is a really awful way to try and sell a PPV, too.)

Jon Moxley talks about having chased Tanahashi for three years and this Sunday he says respect goes out of the window because he respects no one in the ring.

Trios Match
Roppongi Vice & Orange Cassidy vs. United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)

Romero and Fletcher start the match off and speed things up immediately with some counter wrestling before Trent tags in and hits a big Lariat on Fletcher. Davis tags in and takes Trent down but Trent gets back to his feet and hits a series of strikes. Trent hits a German Suplex and tags OC. OC taunts Davis and puts his hands his pockets but then immediately rolls off a series of moves before tagging Romero.

The babyfaces hit stirkes on Davis in the corner and then Ospreay comes in and hits a big Double Backdrop from Roppongi Vice. The heels regroup on the outside but the babyfaces go for dives only to get caught in midair. They sandwich the faces into each other and then Apron Bomb all of them!

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

OC does his lazy kicks to Aussie Open but then pops up with a Double Rana out of nowhere followed by a Flying Head Scissors using Fletcher as a base. He then hits the Satellite DDT on Fletcher and dares Ospreay to tag in. Ospreay obliges but Romero hits him with a Flying Rana as he comes in! Trent clotheslines Ospreay to the floor and all three babyfaces hit dives onto United Empire on the floor!

In the ring, Trent hangs Ospreay up on the ropes and Romero hits a Guillotine Missile Dropkick followed by a Splash off the top from OC for a nearfall. OC goes for Orange Punch but Ospreay moves and hits a series of kicks capped off with a Brainbuster attempt that OC counters into the Stun Dog Millionaire! Davis and Romero tag in and Romero hits him with a Flying Rana but Davis comes back with some nasty chops.

Fletcher tags in and Aussie Open double teams Romero in their corner. They hit a combo Suplex/Powerbomb for a nearfall and then go for the Arrow but Romero blocks it and hits a Sliced Bread on Fletcher. OC hits a Flying Cross Body on Davis but Ospreay hits one of his own. Trent hits a Lariat and then Roppongi Vice hit Double Knees to Fletcher. Trent goes for Strong Zero but Ospreay kicks him in the face and Davis hits a Pop-Up Piledriver (that was the only way I could describe) for a nearfall.

Ospreay goes for the Sasuke Special to OC on the outside but OC moves and Ospreay lands on his feet. Romero hits a Plancha onto Ospreay! Trent hits a Tornado DDT and kick combo on Aussie Open. OC tags in and hits the Orange Punch on Fletcher for the pin!

Winners: Roppongi Vice & Cassidy via pinfall (Orange Cassidy)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: That match was fantastic. All six guys were awesome and I’m sure we’ll see just more of the same this weekend. ***)

Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb walk out and the heels surround the babyfaces until FTR walks out causing United Empire to back down.

In the back, Sonjay Dutt and his crew brag about Singh’s debut last week and says they are going to India to celebrate. Jay Lethal says he can’t win the ROH TV Title until Samoa Joe gets back to work and they mock him for his injury. Lethal says that Joe should either defend it or vacate it.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

Schiavone brings out Christian Cage to answer for turning on Jungle Boy last week. Christian taunts the crowd for booing him and he talks about not getting the respect from fans that he deserves. He says that Jungle Boy cost him a roster bonus and a possible title shot when he eliminated him in the Casino Battle Royale last year and that pissed him off. Christian mocks the “internet corner of social media” and shits on all of us saying our opinions don’t matter. Christian says it would be like him going to the drive thru window and telling us how to do our jobs.

Christian says he figured out Jungle Boy was talented, so he just wanted to hitch his career to a young guy so he can make money off his back. Christian makes a snide remark about guys on the roster complaining about their pay and says if they want to make his salary they should try and have a match that people talk about for more than a week. Christian says that Jungle Boy doesn’t have the “killer instinct” and he realized that and says the one time he didn’t come to the ring with them they lost the titles.

Christian says now he has to get his hands dirty and it pisses him off. Footage of Christian telling Jungle Boy’s mom that she “raised a piece of shit” is shown and Christian says he just wanted to give her a chance to apologize to giving birth to Jungle Boy. Christian mentions that she may have been a little sweet on him and that he may have wanted him to become Jungle Boy’s new dad. Christian says Jungle Boy looked at him like a dad but he never wanted to be his dad because he already had a dad, who’s dead. Christian says it’s a good thing he’s dead because he’d be embarrassed by what Jungle Boy has become.

Luchasaurus walks out and grabs Christian by the throat but Christian says they can talk it out and says he is like a son to him. They walk off together.

(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Christian’s promo was excellent but the edginess will definitely rub people the wrong way. The ending was bizarre, though.)

Both men are down until Penta finally manages to crawl to Black! 1…2…NO Black gets his boot on the bottom rope! Penta goes for the Penta Driver but his back gives out allowing Black to recover and hit Black Mass for the pin.

Winner: Black via pinfall (Black Mass)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: That match was awesome. Everyone involve with these two trios work so damn well together. I could watch any combination of them work every week. ***1/2)

Miro appears on the screen and says he will walk through the Forbidden Door dragging “bastards and pagans” with him and redeem them all. He says that he will make them all meet their maker and when they do, tell him that the Redeemer wants to talk.

—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-

Adam Cole joins commentary for the next match.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Silas Young

Silas Young is a longtime Ring of Honor wrestler that is a former ROH TV Champion. He and Page have been in the ring a number of times in ROH, but this is Young’s AEW debut. Page and Young mat wrestle to a stalemate early on. Finally, Page kicks Young in the face and takes control. Winner: Page via pinfall (Buckshot Lariat)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Another great match tonight. Silas Young looked really great and these guys obviously have great chemistry stemming from their feud in ROH. ***)

Adam Cole starts story time but Jay White interrupts him and says he feels like he owes Cole an explanation. He says he’s been giving it a lot of thought and he says that he is responsible for making Forbidden Door as big as it can be. He says he would love to make it about Bullet Club and Undisputed Elite, his opponent still isn’t Cole at Forbidden Door. White says that Cole lost to Page twice but he says he isn’t facing Page either. Page slaps the microphone away from White and they start fighting. Cole runs down but Page lays him out.

Page goes for the Buckshot Lariat on White but Cole takes Page’s knee out and he and White beat Page down. Winner: Storm via pinfall (rollup)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: Yeah, that sucked about like you would expect. The Marina Shafir experiment needs to end ASAP. It just is not working and the people go completely silent when she comes out. She’s super awkward, sloppy and can’t sell anything. Just move on. *)

Rose attacks Storm after the match but Thunder Rosa runs out and they chase off the heels.

Winners: Moxley & Tanahashi via pinfall (High Fly Flow)
(JOSH’S 2 CENTS: The match was really solid, though Archer just felt like a random person through in here that didn’t mean anything to the match. Good stuff nonetheless. ***)

Tanahashi and Moxley stare each other down after the match but then Yuta and Kingston run out and start brawling with Jericho and Guevara. Minoru Suzuki walks out and starts brawling with Yuta as the rest of JAS run out and a huge brawl ensues.
