According to a report by TwinCities Pioneer Press, Gable Steveson is exploring a return to the Gophers’ second semester for the 2022-2023 season. Stevenson had said that last season would be the end of his amateur wrestling days. Stevenson, does however, have one year of NCAA eligibility remaining.
Gophers wrestling coach Brandon Eggum said that he knows Steveson would like to compete, but it is something that the WWE signee would have to work out with Vince McMahon.
Eggum did go on to say that the details have to be ironed out. Steveson is under a multi-year deal with WWE. The company has high hopes for him to become on the same star power level of Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar.
Steveson had a huge introduction at to WWE fans at SummerSlam 2021. He was also given an introductions by Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas. It was believed he would have started appearing Raw following WrestleMania, but that has yet to happen.
WWE’s The introduction of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunity allowed Steveson to sign with the company which he said was his childhood dream.
