WWE has announced on their website and Instagram that Andrade captured the United States Championship from Rey Mysterio during Thursday night’s WWE Live Event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
This is Andrade’s first run as the US Championship. Mysterio won the US Championship from AJ Styles back on the November 25 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Andrade received the US Championship opportunity Thursday night despite no clear finish of the Gauntlet Match on the December 16 episode of Monday Night Raw.
A future title shot was given to Andrade after he destroyed Humberto Carrillo outside the ring.

Andrade claimed the U.S. Title with a victory over Rey Mysterio at a WWE Live! event at Madison Square Garden.
The former NXT Champion now begins his first reign as a United States Champion by defeating one of WWE’s most decorated Superstars. Andrade earned the title opportunity after claiming a brutal Gauntlet Match win besting Humberto Carrillo.
