TNA Impact Wrestling: Genesis 2014 Night 1
Huntsville, AL (Von Braun Center)
January 16, 2014
Commentators: Taz & Mike Tenay
Report by: Josh Boutwell of Wrestleview.com
Genesis in Sweet Home Alabama opens up with Taz and Tenay sitting at ringside. Tenay says tonight’s show is dedicated to Mae Young, who just passed away. Taz puts over Mae Young and says she was one of the toughest in the business and knowing her she’s raising hell in heaven right now. A graphic in honor of Mae Young is shown and then the intro for Genesis airs.
Rockstar Spud is in the ring and he is welcomed by a chorus of boos from the Bama faithful. Spud calls tonight the most “monumental night” in all of wrestling and he’s doing them a favor because nothing monumental ever happens in Huntsville, Alabama. Spud introduces Dixie Carter who walks out to even more boos.
Dixie thanks the fans and she says everyone has seen what it’s like when you cross the boss. She asks if anyone wants to be taken out like Jeff Hardy or AJ Styles. She says that she warned AJ not to mess with her and now he is gone. She says that if he had just gotten in line like everyone else everything would be fine, but the “redneck” in him had to rear its head every time. Dixie says tonight starts a new chapter in TNA and it is about an individual that has earned respect from everyone, Magnus.
Magnus comes out as the fans chant for AJ and he says tonight is the night they can finally say they have left “petty” business firmly in the mirror and can look at a new day. He says that they can call it “the reign of Magnus” which is punctuated by the gold he’s holding. Magnus is wearing both his belt and the belt that AJ had. He says everything in TNA is because of Dixie and she is a champion to everyone so she deserves to have a belt as well. He hands her one of the belts and says she is the “champion of our hearts.”
Dixie says she know she is deserving of such an honor but Magnus was always the true champion in TNA. Dixie says she needs to bring out some people that showed tremendous loyalty to the company. Bro-Mans, Zema Ion, Bobby Roode, Bad Influence, Gail Kim, and Lei’D Tapa come down to the ring so Dixie can thank them. Dixie says they each went above and beyond the call of duty, especially Bobby Roode, last week and she is so proud of them all they will all benefit greatly from what they did. Dixie says tonight is the Genesis of a new TNA but for that to happen they all have to stand tall and united. Dixie says to accomplish that her nephew has to take out the one man that stands in the way of her company being unified, Sting.
EC3 comes out and he before he can say anything the lights go out and Sting’s music hits! Sting appears in one of the balconies in the crowd with a bat pointing down at the heels!
—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-
Back from the break Sting asks Dixie if she thinks the future is standing in the ring and she hopes the payoff was worth what they had to do. Sting says there are a bunch of men and women in the locker room that couldn’t be bought off for all the money in the world because they have honor which is something that Dixie can’t comprehend. He says that he had no idea that Dixie could sink this low and it’s really bad when you mess with the wrestlers, but when you mess with wrestlers families like she did with Kurt Angle’s you have cross the line. He calls Magnus a “paper champion” and says he’s never earned anything in this business. He says Main Event Mafia believed in him and saw the future in him, but never thought he would sell out and he says this is a house divided in TNA. He says that a house divided cannot stand so before it comes toppling down on everyone he’s going to do something about it. Sting says “WE” are going to fight tonight and Dixie asks who “we” is because all she sees is Sting.
Several wrestlers from the back walk onto the stage and Sting says tonight they take back what is theirs! James Storm, Sting, Samoa Joe, Joseph Park, Gunner, and ODB storm the ring and the fight is on! Samoa Joe is sporting a new Mohawk. Sting corners EC3 in the ring with his bat and then hits him in the gut with it!
—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-
Samoa Joe says they came here tonight to get in a fight and they won’t leave until they get into one. Spud says if he wants to fight then he should be careful what he wishes for because he might just get it. He says they’re going to have a 12-Man Tag right now!

ODB then tosses Tapa out to the floor as Storm and Daniels fight into the ring. Storm hits Daniels with a clothesline and then a Hip Toss as Tenay mentions that Huntsville was the site of the very first TNA events in the history of the company which I was in attendance for back in high school. Storm clotheslines Daniels over the top rope but eats a dropkick from Kazarian! Gunner attacks Kaz from behind and whips him into the ropes and Press Slams him over the top to the floor! Daniels puts EY in a chinlock but EY breaks it with back elbows. EY tries to get a tag but Daniels holds onto him and slams him into the corner. Daniels whips EY into the opposite corner and then charges at him but EY floats over Daniels and then connects with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex! EY tags in Joe who then hits Daniels with a series of Lariats and then an Atomic Drop followed by the Mafia Kick and Backsplash Senton! 1…2…NO Kaz runs in and tries to break it up with an elbow but Joe moves! Joe then kills Kaz with a Snap Powerslam! Daniels rolls out to the floor and Joe follows with the Elbow Suicida but Daniels moves out of the way and Joe plants Bro-Mans instead! —-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-
Kurt Angle is shown arriving backstage and he’s looking for Dixie Carter.
Chris Sabin and Velvet Sky are in the ring. Sabin says he didn’t want to do this in front of the whole world but Sky is being very, very selfish. He says that he is her boyfriend and he is the X-Division Champion, but he is the X-Division Champion for them together not just himself. He says now she is walking around having secret meetings with Austin Aries and now she has some explaining to do.
Austin Aries comes out and says he has a better title for Sabin than the X-Division Title: “worst boyfriend that ever lived.” Aries says Sabin doesn’t have to worry about him trying to steal his girlfriend but even though is a vegan he wouldn’t mind having a piece of “pigeon pie.” Aries says he was simply explaining to Velvet that she doesn’t have to put up with Sabin’s crap because she’s extremely hot. Sabin says he isn’t going to steal Velvet from him because she proved how much she loves him by doing exactly what he tells her. Aries says that Sabin is using her as his pawn and she needs to be exactly what everyone knows she is… “ONE EXTREMLY HOT PIECE OF…” and Sabin cuts him off and tells him to watch his mouth
Sabin says she is his “piece” and then he slaps her on the ass and winks at her. Aries says if Sabin thinks he is a real man then he should face Aries next week for the X-Division Title with Velvet not at ringside because Sabin can’t win without her. Sabin says that everyone knows that Sabin is greater than Aries so Aries suggests they put Velvet inside a cage at ringside so Sabin can’t force her to do anything. Sky snatches the microphone away from Sabin and says she would do it. She says that she is sick of the mess that Sabin has dragged her into and now it’s time to find out what kind of relationship they really have. She says that she wants a man that will support her not blame her, and next week they will put it to the test. Velvet tells Sabin that if he doesn’t win then she might have to find someone else to spend her time with.
In the back Angle is still looking for Dixie.

He screams at Simon to never mention her name again. Shaw pulls off Simon’s shoe and sniffs it before hitting Simon with it, what the hell?!
EC3 is trying to psyche himself up backstage when Magnus walks in. Magnus says he was once where EC3 was a few years ago but if he believes in himself one day maybe he can be where Magnus is right now. Magnus says he beat Sting at BFG so EC3 should worry about not letting the family down and he would hate to see what happens if he lets the family down.

He says that not only did she mess with him but she messed with his family and when you mess with his family it’s too far. Angle says he isn’t going anywhere until she gives him some answers.
Dixie comes out and she says that he has to realize that there is a lot going on in TNA right now and things are changing. Kurt says the Dixie Carter he knew is not here anymore and he asks why she would fake an emergency with his wife and kids. She says she did that to protect him and his family because she knows he would have made a decision he would have regretted. Dixie says she was trying to protect him from himself, but Kurt says he is a twisted, warped person. He asks if she really wanted to screw AJ Styles over that badly. She says that they both know Kurt needs her to look out for him and he would have ended up getting hurt because he isn’t smart enough to make the right decision. She says that she doesn’t want him to end up like Jeff Hardy or AJ Styles. Dixie says it was best for him just like everything she does.
Kurt says he isn’t on her team and he says that he’s going to make sure this doesn’t happen again because after he kicks Bobby Roode’s ass in a Steel Cage Match he’s going to be in Sting’s corner. Dixie says she can’t let Kurt get in the ring in this state of mind because he is a little unstable so she’s decided to postpone the Cage Match for next week, and if he interferes in that match with Sting there will be consequences that could cost him his job. Kurt laughs and says this is way bigger than his job and if she wants to fire him then she needs to do it now. Kurt says he will do what’s right and Dixie says now she’s going to protect him again and tells security to come out and escort Kurt out of the building.
Security comes out but as Kurt is arguing with them Roode clotheslines him from behind! Roode hits the Roode Bomb (TKO)! Security drags Angle out as Roode looks on.

She calls them “The Wolves” and says that they have quite the following so she is very excited for their “try out match” next week. Davey Richards looks annoyed by the phrase “try out match” and Dixie says that if they are impressive they may even get to talk about a contract. Davey says he thinks they’re past a try out match at this point but Dixie looks confused and says that’s why she brought them in. Eddie Edwards says that they signed their contracts with TNA this morning as Davey laughs. Davey says that “they” told them that she might react like this and then hands her an envelope and says to read what’s in it because that might clear things up. Dixie pulls out the papers and as she reads it she says, “a new TNA investor” and says that her lawyer signed it as she frantically pulls out her phone.

Sting spins Spud around causing Spud’s legs to hit EC3 and then he hits the Scorpion Death Drop on EC3! Spud refuses to count but Sting grabs him and pulls him down to the mat and forces him to count, but Magnus comes out and pulls Spud out of the ring! Magnus takes off his jacket revealing a referee’s shirt as EC3 rolls Sting up! Magnus quick counts Sting! 1….2…3!
Winner: EC3 via pinfall (rollup)
Sting grabs a microphone and says he wants to fight him and says he will do ANYTHING to fight him!
—-COMMERCIAL BREAK—-
Sting says he chose Magnus to join MEM and he believed in him, and he pays him back by spitting in his face. He says that Magnus has disgraced AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, the World Title, the fans, and the business. He says Magnus is a cancer and he needs to be cut out. Sting wants just one shot.
Magnus mockingly says it’s always “just one more shot” for Sting but one more is one too many and he reminds Sting that he lost the right to ever compete for the belt again last year. Magnus says he owes Sting nothing. Sting says he owes himself and asks if he wants to be king of the jungle and be his own man by saying he did something himself with NO aide. Sting says Magnus claims to be a man and Sting says that men wear championships while boys wear belts. Sting asks if Magnus is going to be a man or a little boy.
Magnus says he isn’t going to fall for Sting’s reverse psychology but he will make him a deal. He says that Dixie is thinking about extending Sting’s contract unfortunately but he has a proposition for Sting. A match where if Sting wins he gets the title but if Magnus wins then Sting is DONE! Sting agrees and Magnus says he can’t wait to tear up Sting’s contract and his legacy in the process!
