TNA Impact Wrestling
London, England (Wembley Arena)
February 9, 2012
Commentators: Mike Tenay & Taz
Report by: Josh Boutwell of Wrestleview.com

The 2nd week of Impact’s invasion of the UK kicks off with a video package that splices together clips of the Bischoff drama and drama from Star Wars (since this has a Star Wars theme) as well as clips of the 4-Way Title picture and clips of the 3-way brawl between Darth Maul and the Jedi’s in one of the Star Wars movies.

Bully Ray’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring followed by a chorus of boos. Ray’s heated tonight and he screams at the fans to sit down and shut their mouths, which just makes them boo louder. Ray says he doesn’t want to talk to James Storm or Sting or anyone else except for his “friend” Bobby Roode, he tells Bobby to get out there right now. The Champ doesn’t make his “buddy” wait very long either.

Ray walks down the ramp and meets him halfway and says he won’t even wait for him to get to the ring. Ray asks Roode where the hell he’s been for him. He says Roode begged him to watch his back repeatedly and he had his back repeatedly but where the hell was him for him. Roode tells him to slow down and “pump his brakes” for a minute. They both get into the ring and Ray says he’ll settle down when he wants to settle down and Roode has that belt right now because he’s been saving his backside for 2 months.

Roode says he WAS there for him and he’s always had his back just like Ray has had his back. Ray says he had his back but last time Roode put a knife in it. Roode says he and Ray are best buddies right now, they train together and ride the roads together and his problem isn’t with Roode. He says his problem is with the same guy he has a problem with, Sting. Sting’s music cuts him off immediately.

Sting walks out with the same Cricket Bat he had last week. Sting says that he thinks they need a special enforcer for the 4-Way to make sure things stay on the up and up at the PPV, so HE will be the Special Enforcer! He also says that Ray & Roode better get on the same page pretty quick because tonight they are teaming together against James Storm and… STING! Ray and Roode start arguing again as Sting leaves the ring.

Hulk Hogan & Garett Bischoff are shown arriving to the building.

A great video package covering the drama between AJ Styles and Kaz/Daniels is shown.

“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels w/Kazarian vs. “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles

Kaz continues to look distraught as he makes his way to the ring with Daniels. AJ gets a nice pop as he makes it to the ring. Taz points out that the Fortune stable has completely exploded in front of AJ. As AJ comes into the ring Daniels immediately jumps him to kickstart the match. AJ answers back with right hands of his own and then he attempts to whip Daniels into the ropes, but Daniels reverses it and then sets up for a backdrop. AJ counters by back flipping over Daniels’ back and then he leapfrogs Daniels. AJ drops down and Daniels leaps over him which is typically the set up for the Phenomenal Dropkick, but instead of hitting the rope Daniels stopped in his tracks and then decked AJ as he got to his feet. Daniels whips AJ into the ropes and goes for a clothesline but AJ slides underneath Daniels feet and then connects with that Phenomenal Dropkick as he turns around! Daniels retreats to the floor but you are NOT safe from the Phenomenal One down there as AJ connects with a gorgeous Somersault Plancha over the top onto Daniels on the floor! AJ rolls Daniels back into the ring and then hits a Slingshot Sunset Flip! 1…2…NO Daniels kicks out but AJ holds onto his legs and attempts to transition into the Styles Clash! Daniels kicks AJ with one of his legs and then he charges at AJ in the corner. AJ sidesteps Daniels and then he charges him, but Daniels gets his boot up! Daniels pulls something out of his boot and goes to hit AJ with it but as the referee tops him Daniels tosses it to Kaz. AJ lights Daniels up with chops in the corner now and then he whips Daniels into the opposite corner. AJ charges at Daniels but Daniels backdrops AJ over the top! AJ lands on the apron and then attempts to clothesline Daniels from the apron, but Daniels ducks it and then connects with a big Forearm Smash! Daniels rolls out to the floor and continues the beatdown on AJ on the outside with a cross chop and then he blows a kiss at a booing fan. Daniels rolls AJ back into the ring and then connects with a Slingshot Guillotine Leg Drop! Daniels follows up with a Running Clothesline, 1…2…NO AJ kicks out! Daniels grabs AJ and reigns down right hands on his former tag partner and then he blatantly chokes him. Daniels locks in a chinlock on AJ as the fans try to rally AJ to a comeback. Daniels slams AJ to the mat and then connects with a Knee Drop for another nearfall. Daniels goes right back to the Chinlock but AJ fights back to his feet and breaks the hold with back elbows. AJ hits the ropes but eats an Enziguri from Daniels! 1…2…NO AJ kicks out again! Daniels grabs AJ and goes for the Angels Wings, but AJ blocks it and connects with a Leaping Enziguri of his own! Both men are down now! Daniels looks over to Kaz and calls for the brass kucks but Kaz refuses and AJ nails Daniels with a Lariat! AJ then hits a Back Elbow followed by a Spinning Heel Kick! AJ attempts to whip Daniels into the corner but Daniels reverses it and then charges at AJ! AJ catches him with a back elbow and then hits the Phenomenon (Springboard Asai Moonsault into Reverse DDT) out of the corner! AJ goes to the apron and springboards off the top with the Springboard Flying Forearm! AJ gets fired up and gets the fans behind him as he grabs Daniels for the Styles Clash! Daniels blocks it and then counters another Lariat from AJ into a Rock Bottom! Daniels goes for the BME but AJ rolls out of the way and Daniels lands on his feet! AJ gets up and Daniels goes for a clothesline, but AJ ducks and nails him with the Pele! Daniels falls into the ropes and when he does he grabs a hold of the ropes so AJ can’t pull him to the center of the ring. AJ kicks Daniels repeatedly but the referee pulls him away (as Daniels is in the ropes) so Daniels calls for the knucks again and this time he finally gives them up. AJ pushes the referee away and Daniels swings with the knucks but AJ ducks and kicks Daniels! AJ goes for the Styles Clash again but Daniels blocks it! Finally AJ pulls Daniels up for the Styles Clash but Daniels pops the referee in the face as he was going up and then Daniels pulls himself up onto AJ’s shoulders and punches AJ with the knucks! The referee turns around, 1…2…3!

Winner: Daniels via pinfall

In the back Eric Bischoff says he wants Gunner by his side and they’re going to take Hogan & Garett out. Eric says, “one knee cap at a time.”

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

Back from the break the #1 Contenders to the Tag Titles Magnus & Samoa Joe make their way down to the ring. Magnus grabs the microphone and he says everytime they come to Wembley Arena people talk about how great it feels to come back to the UK and how good it feels to perform in front of the UK shows, but he needs to make a small correction to that. He says he has nothing against the Welsh, the Irish, or the Scots but tonight they’re not in the UK. He says this is ENGLAND and tonight while he knows he’s not everyone’s favorite but he gets to say that he has come home, and he brought his tag partner with him and he says the fans might have heard of them. A huge “JOE” chant starts and then Magnus says 2 months ago TNA decided to make the Wild Card Tournament and he and Joe got drawn in the Tournament. He says that raised a few eyebrows, him included, and the boys in the back, the people in the office, and even some of the fans it wasn’t going to work but he thinks they may have proven that theory wrong. Magnus says he and Joe is the unit and when you talk about chemistry and teamwork and being a well oiled machine, then you’re talking about them. He says Matt Morgan and Crimson’s names and both get a ton of boos and Magnus says the only reason they’re a team is because they’re too afraid to face each other. He says he and Joe fear NOONE and they fear no team, and they definitely don’t fear them. He says at Against All Odds Joe and Magnus will take those belts but then Crimson’s music hits and the champs make their way down to the ring!

Morgan grabs the microphone and says there is only one thing left to say, and that’s that the talking is done and then he and Crimson jump the #1 Contenders! They send Joe out of the ring and then whip Magnus into the ropes and connect with a Double Shoulder Block! They call for the Double Chokeslam but Joe grabs Crimson by the pants and pulls him down to safety. Joe then flips them off and screams “F*CK YOU!” (bleeped obviously) at them.

Non-Title Triple Threat Match
“A-Double” Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley vs. Douglas Williams

Aries taunts Shelley with the belt before the match. All 3 men circle each other but then Aires knees Williams in the gut and then shoves Shelley into the corner. Williams recovers and rolls Aries up, 1…2…NO Shelley shoves him off. They all 3 get back up and this time both Shelley & Williams kick Aries and then whip him into the ropes. Aries nails Aries with a Knee Lift and then Williams connects with a Snapmare Takeover. Shelley dropkicks Aries in the back of the head and then Williams clotheslines Aries over the top rope! Shelley rolls Williams up, 1…2…NO Williams kicks out! Shelley lights him up with chops and then he locks in a side headlock, but Williams shoves him into the ropes. Williams drops down and Shelley leaps over him and then kicks Williams with a Backick as he gets back to his feet. Shelley follows up with a Sliced Bread attempt but Williams shoves him into the corner. Williams charges at Shelley and Shelley gets his boot up, but Williams catches it and then swings it into the ropes and then he kicks Aries in the knee. Williams follows up with Shortarm Clothesline and then Shelley rolls out to the floor. Williams gets the fans behind him and then sets up for a dive but Aries trips him from the outside and then goes for a Slingshot Somersault Senton, but Williams gets his knees up! Shelley dives off the top with a Flying Back Kick that sends Aries right back to the floor! Aries sets up for a dive now but Aries moves out of the way and Aries was able to catch himself on the apron. Aries grabs Shelley’s leg and slams him hard onto the apron! Williams dives out with a Suicide Dive through the ropes but Aries was able to move leaving Shelley to take all of the dive. Aries quickly rolls back into the ring and hits the Heat Seeking Missile through the ropes onto Williams on the floor! Aries rolls Williams back into the ring and this time connects with the Slingshot Somersault Senton, 1…2…NO Williams kicks out! Aries lights Williams up with some nasty chops in the corner but Williams wakes up and turns it around with a series of NASTY European Uppercuts to the delight of the crowd. Williams eats up the crowd response but that allows Aries to come back with a kick to the gut and then he slams both arms against the side of Williams head. Aries lifts Williams up onto the top rope and he follows up for a Superplex but Shelley comes back in and slaps Aries on the ass Knife Edge Chop style. Shelley then lifts Aries up on his shoulders and Williams sets up for something on the top rope but Aries is able to escape from Shelley’s shoulders and shove Shelley into Williams crotching him on the top rope. Aries then hits a Knee Breaker followed by a Side Slam! Aries then goes for the Pendulum Elbow Drop, but Shelley rolls out of the way! Williams then dives off the top with the Flying European Uppercut! Williams follows up with a Running Knee and then Shelley charges at Williams but he sidesteps it and Aries slams into Aries! Williams grabs Shelley and hits the Chaos Theory! 1…2…NO Aries breaks it up by kicking Williams in the nuts! The referee was blocked by Williams and Shelley so he didn’t see the nut shot. Aries grabs Shelley and goes for the Brainbuster but Shelley blocks it with a knee to the head and then connects with the Sliced Bread! 1…2…3!

Winner: Aries via pinfall (Sliced Bread)

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

In the back Hogan is talking to Garett Bischoff when Sting walks up and hugs Hogan. Sting says it’s good to see Hulkamania again and Hogan thanks Sting for making him be himself again. Garett walks away and Hogan tells Sting that he’s taken things to whole new level. He says the young guys are finally talking to him and he tells Sting that he has a target on his back. He says they’re coming for him and he wants to let Sting know that because of what he’s done for him so if he ever needs anything he has his back. Hogan finally kicks the camera crew out so they can talk alone.

More UK fans reactions is shown with Dixie Carter meeting the fans.

Earlier today Tara and Gail Kim are shown brawling on the street.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

Earlier today Tara was filming outside the arena for her blog when Gail Kim attacks her! Gail slams Tara into a door and then drags her into the building and continues the beatdown. She hits Tara with an elbow and then tosses her through some double doors and laughs and says “how’s that for some home footage courtesy of Gail Kim.”

The clip of Hogan talking about TNA’s potential is shown again.

Hulk Hogan’s music hits and the Hulkster makes his way down to the ring alongside Garett. A big “Hogan” chant starts and Hogan plays it up for everything it’s worth. Hogan says that’s exactly what he expected from the greatest wrestling fans in the world. Hogan talks about it being 18 years since he had wrestled in the UK and he says the loyalty and respect from the UK fans is still there. Hogan says he knows what happens when someone dedicates their lives to the business and he’s proud of what they’ve given to him, he wants them to give it to Garett and oh man those cheers are the first tonight that sounded piped in. Hogan says Garett is completely different from his dad and the only thing he’s ever wanted from day one was an opportunity to step in the ring and prove he had it in his blood. Eric Bischoff’s music hits and he and Gunner make their way down to the ring.

Eric asks Hogan what he thinks gives him the right to interfere in his family business, but Hogan says this isn’t about Eric anymore. He says this is about his son and his future. Eric says if he has his way Garett won’t have a future and neither will Hogan. He says his time has come and gone and it’s time for him to ride into the sunset. He says Hogan does not have the right to interfere in his family. Hogan says Eric doesn’t understand the business as well as he thought because not only does Hulk have the right but he has the Hulkamania stroke. Hogan says he’s back in the good graces of the fans, he talked to a real good friend of his that’s running the show in TNA (Sting) and Sting gave him the right to book a match at Against All Odds! Hogan says it will be Garett vs. Gunner at AAO. Gunner shoves Garett and he shoves him back and then Eric low blows Hogan! Gunner beats Garett down in the corner and then Hulk gets back to his feet and grabs Eric! He punches him in the face and then grabs Gunner by the hair and tosses him over the top rope to the floor! Hogan picks Eric up and Garett socks him!

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

The trailer for the 3D version of Star Wars Episode I is shown. Hasn’t George Lucas raped Star Wars fans (I’m not going to call them nerds!) of enough of their money by now? I will admit Darth Maul was a pretty kick ass villain though.

In the back Bully Ray is with Bobby Roode and he says Roode has no idea just how pissed off he is right now. Roode tries to convince him that it’s Sting is really pissed off but Ray says they have to work together tonight. He offers a handshake to Roode but Roode says brothers don’t shake hands, they have to hug so Ray reluctantly hugs him. Ray says “3 days” and then walks away and Roode didn’t seem to like that comment.

Hogan talks about AAO and Eric Bischoff. He says they will put an end to Eric Bischoff so Garett can have a future so Hogan will be in Garett’s corner.

“Hardcore Country” Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky

Thankfully Velvet has ditched the tights she was wearing a few weeks ago and is back to wearing the ones that LET THE PIGEONS LOOSE! They lockup and Velvet gets Mickie in a wristlock. Mickie counters out with a cartwheel and then an arm drag for a nearfall. Mickie picks Velvet up as Taz makes the first Star Wars joke of the night (saying Velvet looks kind of like “Princess Lay-her”… yes he said that). Mickie puts Velvet in a wristlock but Velvet counters into a side headlock. Mickie fights out with body shots and then she shoves Velvet into the ropes only to eat a shoulder block from Velvet. Velvet hits the ropes and Mickie leapfrogs her and then rolls backward to go for a Monkey Flip, but Velvet stops on the ropes and then rolls Mickie back and hits a Hip Toss! 1…2…NO Mickie bridges out of the pin and then side rolls Velvet! 1…2…NO Vickie kicks out! Nice sequence. Velvet offers a handshake and Mickie accepts but then Mickie pulls Velvet into a shoulder block. Mickie then whips Velvet into the corner and Mickie charges but Velvet gets her feet up. Velvet then hits a Spinning Headscissors Takeover! Velvet hits the ropes but Mickie trips her up and then hits a Sliding Dropkick for a nearfall. Mickie covers her again and gets another rnearfall and starts showing some frustration. Mickie tosses Velvet into the corner and hits her with kicks and shoulder blocks. Mickie hits a Snapmare Takeover and then locks Velvet in a modified Abdominal Stretch. She then rolls Velvet over for a pin, but only gets a two count. Mickie grabs Velvet but eats a Jawbreaker from her! Velvet hits a series of clotheslines and then she walks into a Spinning Back Kick from Mickie. Mickie attempts to whip Velvet into the corner but Velvet counters into a Reverse Bulldog for another nearfall. Velvet hits a series of Facebreakers and then she hits the ropes but Mickie catches her with a clothesline. Mickie is starting to get some boos now. Mickie kicks Velvet and goes for the Mickie-DT but Velvet counters into an attempt at the In Yo Face, but Mickie backdrops her. Velvet lands and attempts to roll Mickie up but Mickie blocsks it and slaps Velvet. Mickie then goes for a pin but Velvet counters into a cradle! 1…2…3!

Winner: Velvet via pinfall (inside cradle)

Mickie James can’t seem to believe that she just got pinned by Velvet and looks confused and frustrated.

More fan reactions from the UK fans.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

A great video package highlighting TNA’s tour of the UK is shown. A graphic saying “TNA Wrestling would like to thank the most passionate fans in the world.”

An absolutely excellent video package highlighting the World Title 4-Way is shown, focusing on Bobby Roode and his willingness to do anything to keep his belt with the other contenders talking about how bad they want the belt as well. Ray says winning the belt for him isn’t so much about winning the belt itself but rather it’s about pissing the entire wrestling world off if he was able to do it. Jeff Hardy is also shown and he says winning the Championship would kind of like an award from coming through everything he did to finally make it back. He says the Championship is his payoff.

In the back Sting says he will “cowboy up” to team with Storm and Storm says he’s pretty sure that when Sting was a “little Stinger” that he dreamed of the opportunity to leave his mark and he says tonight is Storm’s opportunity to team with the Icon and leave his mark.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

Main Event
“The Insane Icon” Sting & “Cowboy’ James Storm vs. Bobby Roode & Bully Ray

Boxing style intros for this one. Sting with the huge reaction you would expect. Ray and Roode take turns telling each other to “follow my lead” before finally it’s settled down to Roode and Sting starting the match off. I think they’re chanting “you’re a wanker” at Roode (but I’m not sure). Interesting yet pointless fact, these 4 men have 45 combined World Tag Team Championship reigns in various companies (counting Roode & Storm’s title reigns together not as 4 each). Sting and Roode get ready to tie up but then Roode turns around to tag in Ray but Ray walks away. Ray says “don’t worry, I got ya’ back” and finally Roode & Sting tie up. Roode forces Sting in the corner and then nails Sting with a series of chops but Sting hulks up and nails Roode with rights and lefts! Sting whips Roode into the ropes and connects with a backdrop and then he goes for the Stinger Splash, but Roode moves out of the way. Sting was able to stop himself from hitting the turnbuckles and turns around catches Roode with a clothesline. Sting goes for the Scorpion Death Lock and locks it in! Ray comes in and goes for a Big Boot but Sting catches his boot and nails him with right hands. Sting tags in Storm and they whip Ray into the ropes and connect with a Double Clothesline. Ray rolls out to the floor and the babyfaces play to the crowd as the heels try to regroup.

———————————–COMMERCIAL BREAK—————————————–

Back from the break Ray is in the match with Sting now and he points at Storm and says “I want YOU Cowgirl” and Sting tags him in. Ray and Storm lockup and Ray forces him into the corner and they have a clean break where Ray says “clean break my friend” and then attempts to punch Storm. Storm ducks it and then hits an armdrag on Ray! Storm hits a 2nd armdrag and this time locks in an armbar. Storm slams his elbow into Ray’s elbow repeatedly as Tenay once again points out that we haven’t seen Abyss since Ray attacked him after their Monsters Ball. Storm pokes Ray in the eyes and then tags in Sting. Sting rakes Ray’s face and then locks in a wristlock on Ray and wrenches on his arm repeatedly before slamming him to the mat and then stomping on his hand. Sting bites Ray’s forehead and then tags Storm in. Strom climbs up top and dives off with a Fist Drop onto Ray and then connects with an uppercut. Storm attempts to whip Ray into the ropes but Ray reverses it and Roode puts his knee into Storm’s back from the apron. He then kicks Storm repeatedly and tags himself in. Roode puts the boots to Storm in the corner and then Ray comes back in (no tag behind the referee’s back, and he claps his hand) and then Ray strips off Storm’s back and LIGHTS Storm up with a chop. Ray tears the tape off of Storm’s ribs and hits a Scoop Slam followed by an Elbow Drop. Ray starts working on those ribs from last week now punching him in the side repeatedly before tagging Roode back in. Roode hits an Axe Handle Drop on Storm’s ribs now and then hits a Knee Drop for a nearfall. Roode locks in a Waistlock now. Storm fights up to his feet as a “Cowboy” chant starts up. Storm breaks the hold and hits a back elbow to the head. Storm goes to hit the ropes but Roode slams him to the mat by the hair. Ray tags back in and locks Storm in a Bearhug now. The fans get behind Storm again and Storm slams his arms into the side of Ray’s head to break it. Storm hits the ropes but eats a Big Boot from Ray! Ray picks up his chain and argues with the referee but Storm kicks it away and then connects with a Russian Leg Sweep! Storm fights to his feet and dives for the tag! Sting tags in and Ray also tags in Roode! Roode walks into a kick from Sting and then Sting takes turns clotheslines both heels before hitting the Stinger Splash on Roode and then one for Ray! Sting goes for a 2nd one on Roode but Roode moves out of the way and Sting seems to come up lame and starts limping (I believe that’s where he suffered the much talked about heel injury). Roode climbs up top but Sting catches him and tosses him off the top! 1…2…NO Ray goes to break it up with a Elbow Drop but Sting moves and Ray hits his partner! Sting whips Ray into Roode and then hits another Stinger Splash but he is VERY noticeably limping but fighting through it. Ray falls to the mat and then Storm hits a Leaping Enziguri to the back of Roode’s head from the apron causing Roode to fall forward right into the crotch of Ray! Ray’s face was priceless and he rolls out to the floor. Sting attempts to whip Roode into the ropes but Roode counters into the Double-R Spinebuster! 1…2…NO Sting kicks out! On the outside Ray slams Storm into the ring post! Roode goes for the Payoff but Sting counters into the Scorpion Death Drop! Sting locks in the Scorpion Death Lock! Ray comes in with the title belt but instead of hitting Sting with it, he drops down to his knee and says “see ya’ in 3 days champ” and walks out. Roode taps!

Winners: Sting & Storm via submission (Scorpion Death Lock)

Tenay says that illustrates exactly how it will be at Against All Odds when it’s every man for himself.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Another really fun show tonight and sadly this is the last time we will see a crowd like that for awhile. The difference on Sunday is going to be MASSIVE.

The opening promo was good, planting the dissension between Ray & Roode and then setting up the tag match.

Really good match from Styles and Daniels and I didn’t mind the screwy finish. 1) because it needed to happen to continue the story and 2) they did a good job of not making the referee look like a complete moron with Daniels blocking his view most of the time. AJ-Kaz should be great.

Wow talk about surprising with the Magnus and Joe promo! First off, Joe was great just standing there looking like a badass while Magnus was awesome on the mic. This team just has so much damn potential and hopefully TNA sees this team has a hell of a lot more staying power than Crimson & Morgan.

Good X-Division action with all 3 guys looking good and Williams getting some hometown love.

I couldn’t care less about the Bischoff drama and Hogan’s inclusion does nothing to change that. I’ve said it 100 times and it’s still true.

Mickie and Velvet had a lot better match than I figured and Velvet was a lot crisper here than usual. The main thing her though, I think, was planting the seeds for an eventual heel turn for Mickie. Her character needs it desperately as well. That could be interesting.

All of the video packages tonight were absolutely excellent and thankfully the Stars Wars theme was held to a minimum with really just the opening video and the trailer being shown the only thing that was involved.

Good tag action with mostly old school action with the heels working over one babyface (Storm) though Storm & Sting did that as well early. The injury seemed to be just a fluke thing when Sting went for one of the Stinger Splashes in the corner. Probably isn’t that serious and kudos to him for working through it. Didn’t like Roode tapping to Sting though but I did like how they had Ray with the ability to break it up but instead leave his “buddy” out to dry like Roode did to him.

QUICK RESULTS:
1)Daniels def. AJ Styles
2)Triple Threat: Alex Shelley def. Douglas Williams & Austin Aries
3)Velvet Sky def. Mickie James
4)James Storm & Sting def. Bully Ray & Bobby Roode
