As of Wednesday (8/6), nothing new has developed in the negotiations between TNA and Spike TV over the renewal of Impact Wrestling according to a report by Dave Meltzer.
There was what was described as “panic” at the tapings on Wednesday night in New York City over reports that Smackdown could be moving to Thursday night on Syfy (something WWE confirmed to us that was contemplated and not finalized).
Many TNA staff were expecting some kind of an announcement about the future of the television show as they were told by management to expect good news in that department at these tapings. That hasn’t happened with one more taping to go on Thursday. Management continues to tell those who have asked that the TMZ report saying that Spike TV made the decision to not renew Impact is a lie, while others remain very skeptical. This latest set of television tapings in New York City are the last scheduled Impact tapings on the schedule as only live events for the rest of August and September remain advertised.
