According to various wrestling media reports this week, there are many TNA contracts set to expire this March. Talent whose deals are about to expire soon include Robert Roode, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. TNA is said to be in the process of working on new deals with them, while others have recently agreed to new terms whose names were not confirmed at this point. There are also talents whose deals with TNA will not be renewed when they expire indicating some big roster changes for 2009 (this has already taken place this week with Petey Williams, Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave).
It should be noted that there is WWE interest in Robert Roode at the moment, while Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley have expressed privately that they are going back and forth in regards to their interest in re-signing with TNA. Shelley was very vocal when talking to friends about leaving the company before they started giving him a push on television. He has reportedly softened his stance when they became featuring him more and has expressed a desire to stay. One report is indicating however that if Sabin and Shelley are offered the same deals they have now in TNA that they have no interest in staying and would seek out work in Ring of Honor and other independent promotions, Mexico and Japan. One of them has also expressed interest in returning to school if TNA doesn’t come through with a stronger offer.
