NXT UK Episode 1 results, Dec. 19, 2018: Rhea Ripley defends the NXT UK Women’s Title against Isla Dawn
The Mosh Pit Kid rebuffed an intense challenge from The White Witch to successfully defend the NXT UK Women’s Championship for the very first time. Plus, Jordan Devlin tamed “Wild Boar” Mike Hitchman, Fabian Aichner reigned supreme over Eddie Ryan, Moustache Mountain reaffirmed their tag team superiority against Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone, and Eddie Dennis launched a backstage assault on Dave Mastiff.
Jordan Devlin def. “Wild Boar” Mike Hitchman
In the height of the hard-fought opening bout between Jordan Devlin against Mike Hitchman, The “Wild Boar” unsuccessfully attempted to follow his pop-up powerbomb with the cannonball into the corner. That opened the door for The Irish Ace to hit the backdrop driver into Island’s Call for another big victory.
As the dust settled, Devlin made it clear to his fellow Superstars and NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint that “Ace trumps all!”
Fabian Aichner def. Eddie Ryan
One week after a distraction from Mark Andrews caused him to lose to Flash Morgan Webster, Fabian Aichner reemerged to take on hometown hero, the highly-respected “English Lion” Eddie Ryan.
In his first match on NXT UK, Ryan fared well against his opponent in the early goings, feeding off the crown in Plymouth, but when he took way too long to deliver a dive to the outside, the aggressive Aichner quickly climbed back through the ropes and connected with a fierce backbreaker counter-offensive.
Ryan roared back with a high-impact spinning uppercut off the second rope, but when the contest moved outside the ring in the final moments, Aichner drove his opponent into the ring steps before once again taking the “shortcut” by delivering a knee to his opponent against the unforgiving steel. He then followed up his attack with the spinning powerbomb for the win.
Moustache Mountain def. Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone
Continuing to set the standard for NXT UK tandems in anticipation of the forthcoming NXT UK Tag Team Titles, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven went head-to-head with Saxon Huxley & Tyson T-Bone.
Although the “Big Strong Boys” faced some opposition from their tough-as-nails opponents, a crucial miscommunication occurred when T-Bone delivered the elbow drop to his own partner, clearing the road for Bate & Seven to hit a clothesline into the snap dragon suplex on Huxley for the important win.
NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley def. Isla Dawn to retain the NXT UK Women’s Championship
In her first major test as NXT UK Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley went head-to-head with the mystical Isla Dawn.
Dawn evaded the titleholder’s onslaught and caused Ripley to charge into the steel ring post shoulder-first. Although this gave The White Witch her best opportunity to unseat Ripley, The Mosh Pit Kid somehow kicked out of Dawn’s patented bridge suplex, the dangerous maneuver that has laid out so many of her opponents.
Still in shock after Ripley’s kickout, Dawn would not get another chance, as Ripley avoided her challenger’s kick and executed the Riptide to retain her NXT UK Women’s Championship in her first title defense!
NXT UK Episode 2 results, Dec. 19, 2018: Travis Banks tangles with Joe Coffey in hard-hitting brawl
With Gallus remaining in the backstage area, The Iron King overcame The Kiwi Buzzsaw in a hard-fought main event. Plus, Toni Storm returned to NXT UK to overcome Charlie Morgan, Fabian Aichner helped Zack Gibson & James Drake defeat Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster, and Nina Samuels scored her first NXT UK victory over Killer Kelly.
Toni Storm def. Charlie Morgan
Though Toni Storm failed to overcome Rhea Ripley in the match to crown the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion several weeks ago, she returned to NXT UK triumphant as the winner of the 2018 Mae Young Classic, ready to take on Charlie Morgan in her opponent’s first singles match on the show.
In the final moments of a hard-fought matchup, Strom overcame her plenty-tough adversary, finishing off Morgan with a German suplex and Storm Zero.
Zack Gibson & James Drake def. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster
Zack Gibson & James Drake battled Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster in a contest between two elite combinations looking to impress General Manager Johnny Saint in their pursuit of the forthcoming NXT UK Tag Team Title.
In an explosive contest, Andrews turned the tables on a 2-on-1 assault with a double Stun Dog Millionaire on his opponents. Before he could follow-up, however, Fabian Aichner suddenly emerged to take out the war-torn Modfather outside the ring. When Andrews turned his attention to helping his partner, he failed to see Drake tag in Gibson. Although he managed to hit Fall to Pieces on Drake, he was completely caught off-guard when Liverpool’s No. 1 grabbed him and locked in the Shankly Gates to make him tap out.
When Aichner came after the still-stunned Andrews after the match, Webster joined his partner in expelling the aggressive Superstar from the ring for a small moniker of redemption.
Nina Samuels def. Killer Kelly
Nina Samuels went to war against Killer Kelly, with both athletes looking to stand out in the highly competitive NXT UK Women’s division.
Although Killer Kelly hit a beautiful basement dropkick on Samuels, The Pink Devil countered Kelly’s follow-up fisherman buster attempt by grabbing her foe’s pigtails and ramming her face into the turnbuckle. Samuels then hoisted up Kelly on her shoulders and brought her down hard on her knee to score her first victory on NXT UK!
Joe Coffey def. Travis Banks
In NXT UK’s main event, Joe Coffey emerged without the other members of Gallus in order to go one-on-one with one of the victims of the dangerous trio’s many assaults, Travis Banks.
Banks heroically battled through an injured right shoulder to take Coffey to his limits in a knockdown, drag-out match, but The Kiwi Buzzsaw fell to The Iron King after getting leveled with All the Best for the Bells. Once again, Coffey supported Gallus’ claims that NXT UK was indeed their kingdom while showing why he is a true threat to WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne.
