I am glad to announce that this is the final note on the matter; I have today received a full refund from the HSBC. The refund was given after around 4 weeks of phone calls, letters and evidence being sent that the event had been cancelled.
I hope all the rest of the UK community that got screwed on this matter will be as lucky as me.
If I can help anyone of you, then I will do my best.
