According to Fightful Select, a streaming deal with Ohio Valley Wrestling has been in the works for a while. It was also noted that the producers involved with the Netflix original series, “Last Chance U” are also involved with the new OVW series.
A deal between OVW and Netflix was announced this past May. Filming for the new series first began on May 27 in Georgetown Kentucky. Furthermore it was said that Netflix retains the right of first refusal on the ability to gain TV rights for OVW.
The report also noted Netflix could one day be a major player in the rights fees negotiations, specifically WWE or AEW since Netflix has said they are exploring live streaming.
Former ECW, WWE and IMPACT Wrestling star Al Snow purchased OVW from Danny Davis back in April 2018. However, the ownership structure for OVW changed again back in 2021 after Craig Greenberg and Matt Jones led an investor group to purchase a majority interest in the company.
