Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:
His reaction the the critically-acclaimed Ring of Honor World Title Match between Eddie Edwards & Chris Hero at “ROH Revolution: Canada” in Toronto, how Edwards’ title reign to this point reminds him of Shawn Michaels during his first WWE Title run: “As impressed I was with all the praise & critical acclaim that Chris Hero & Eddie Edwards got, the thing I took from that was that Eddie Edwards did look strong in that match, but that strength takes it’s toll. It reminds me of Shawn Michaels. When he was WWE Champion the first time (when he won the belt from Bret Hart), the talk was about how he was the smallest man to hold the championship, and taking on bigger guys all the time really started to take its toll. In ROH, the tale of the tape is more even, but the physical style is a lot more grueling.”
Why he believes that Charlie Haas is “closer to the end of the road” & why he feels that Haas wants to “set the standard of how professional wrestling is measured” at this stage of his career: “For Charlie, this is closer to the end of the road, and he’ll be the first to tell you that. He’s got about three years left, and he wants these final three years to be spent in Ring of Honor, where he sets the standard of how professional wrestling is measured, and he wants ROH to be the first level of biography.”
What the final showdown between Steve Corino & “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett this Saturday night at “Supercard of Honor VI” in Chicago means to both competitors: “Let’s talk about what this match means to both men. Corino must close this chapter of his career so that he can continue with his rehabilitation. Bennett, who has everything going for him, has come in, and according to Corino, done everything wrong. With Brutal Bob Evans not in the building, will these two men have a clean, fair contest with no outside interference? This is important for ‘The Prodigy’ to score a victory over Corino, because so many of the doubters & naysayers don’t believe Bennett belongs in the upper echelon of Ring of Honor.”
More is contained in Kevin’s return to The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including his candid thoughts & comments on his projections for Shelton Benjamin’s possible long-term ROH future, a look at the next chapter of the feud between The All Night Express & The Briscoe Brothers: a Chicago Street Fight, plus a complete preview of this Saturday night’s “Supercard of Honor VI” event at The Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, IL.
