Chris Jericho loses IWGP Intercontinental Title
Chris Jericho’s reign as IWGP Intercontinental Championship came to a close in the early morning hours of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 event on Friday.
Jericho, who first captured the championship last June in Osaka, lost the championship to Tetsuya Naito inside the Tokyo Dome at New Japan’s annual Wrestle Kingdom event.
The match, which was under No DQ rules, saw steel chairs and brawling on the outside take place. This included a nasty spike DDT by Jericho on Naito over a table.

The finish saw Jericho try to use the championship belt, but Naito ducked and Jericho hit an exposed turnbuckle. Naito connected with Destino, got a nearfall, hit Jericho with the title and then hit a second Destino to get the pinfall.

What this means for Jericho’s involvement with New Japan going forward remains to be seen. He has remained active with the promotion for a year now, while also making surprise appearances for both WWE and at the ALL IN event last year.
