WWE Raw World Champion Chris Benoit defeated Rob Conway (w/ Sylvian Grenier) in a non-title match via submission with the Crippler Crossface at 3:53, despite interference by Grenier; prior to the bout, Johnny Nitro announced that Eric Bischoff had made him the guest referee for the bout and if Benoit touched him he would be stripped of the title; a Benoit suplex on Conway sent Nitro to the floor and another referee came to the ring to make the decision
Chris Jericho defeated Matt Hardy via submission with the Walls of Jericho at 3:01; before the bout, Christian and Trish Stratus came out and watched at the top of the stage and, after the bout, Christian kissed Trish to further anger Jericho
Shelton Benjamin defeated Triple H via count-out at 5:36 after hitting a slingshot on the floor into the ringpost; prematch stipulations stated that only officials could be at ringside for the bout so, through Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair became the guest ring announcer, Batista became the guest timekeeper, and Randy Orton became the guest trainer; after the bout, Benjamin was attacked by all of Evolution, busting him open, until Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, and Mick Foley made the save
Lita won an 8-woman battle royal at around the 7-minute mark by last eliminating Trish Stratus with a dropkick, once Trish became distracted by Chris Jericho after Jericho tripped her; due to prematch stipulations, Lita earned a WWE Women’s Title match for Backlash; order of elimination: Stacy Keibler by Molly Holly with a kick that sent Stacy through the ropes, Molly by Jazz with a punch as Molly was on the top rope, Gail Kim by Lita, Nidia by Trish with a punch as Nidia stood on the apron, Jazz by Lita with a kick as both women stood on the apron at around 2:50; eliminations could occur by falling through the ropes to the floor; the bout began durin the commercial break and most of the eliminations had already occured by the time the show returned
Christian pinned Tajiri with the Unprettier at 2:23 after Jonathan Coachman, who did guest commentary for the bout, grabbed Tajiri’s leg to distract him

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Paul London pinned Billy Kidman at 6:12 by rolling through on a fireman’s carry; Chavo Guerrero Jr. did guest commentary for the bout; during the contest, London began bleeding profusely out of the head; after the match, Kidman attacked the champion as London was distracted by Guerrero on the floor, with Chavo later helping double team London
The Big Show pinned Luther Reigns with the chokeslam at 2:15
Kurt Angle defeated Jose Gonzalez in the Kurt Angle 5-minute Invitational at the 36-second mark via submission with the ankle lock; prior to the contest, Angle cut a promo in the ring regarding his win over Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania, wanting John Cena’s title, and facing Eddie Guerrero the following week; after the contest, Angle kicked his opponent and replied the ankle lock as a warning to Eddie Guerrero
Torrie Wilson won a bikini contest also involving Jackie Gayda, Dawn Marie, Joy Giovanni, Michelle McCool, and Lauren Jones; the original line up was just Wilson, Dawn Marie, & Gayda but the other three came out before the decision was made; Michael Cole was the host for the contest
#1 Contender Tournament Opening Round: John Bradshaw Layfield (w/ WWE US Champion Orlando Jordan) defeated WWE Smackdown! Tag Team Champion Rey Mysterio Jr. via disqualification at 17:16 when Eddie Guerrero interfered, pulling Mysterio off of JBL as he had him down in a cover, and assaulting Bradshaw moments after Bradshaw kicked him in the back of the head; Mysterio’s family was shown sitting at ringside during the contest; moments prior to the finish, Guerrero came ringside to counter the illegal interference of Jordan; after the bout, Guerrero and Mysterio were attacked by JBL, Orlando, and the Bashams until John Cena made the save and cleared the ring
