Based on a recent challenge from NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi, AEW World Champion Chris Jericho posted a video to his Instagram on Saturday saying that if Tanahashi can defeat him at night two of the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 PPV in Tokyo on Sunday, January 5, then Tanahashi will receive an AEW World Title shot.
In a recent intervew with Tokyo Sports, Tanahashi said he might try to be the “American Company’s Champion.” (Interpreted by Google Translate).
He also further said “I’m not the champion over there. If I win and say the other is one more time, then I can say, If you do, belt it.” (Interpreted by Google Translate).
Jericho accepted the challenge, and did note in the video, that he did have to speak with AEW CEO and President Tony Khan first.
Jericho has a clause in his AEW contract that allows him to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
The two day Wrestle Kingdom 14 PPV, which will held at the Tokyo Dome on January 4 and January 5, 2020. Both days will be available on FITE TV for purchase the price of $49.99.
The event will also be available on NJPW World.
